I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to this thread. My elderly vegan mother has banned everyone from buying anything for her for Christmas as she doesn't want anything.

However, I've managed to make up a lovely vegan chocolate and sweetie hamper for her using some of the links and information on here.

I'm very grateful, and I am sure she is going to be delighted.

That's lovely and I'm sure she will appreciate it more than something she didn't need. I'm still working on mine.

  • 'Hale and Hearty' date, oat and chocolate flapjack things are one of the best vegan treats I've come across.

Tesco's and Sainsbo's both sell them in the free from section.
    ''apply within'' :)

I know theyre not really too fancy or xmassy but the Nakd raw food bars are awesome if you're looking for something else to add as well. You can buy them from holland and barrett and also some sainsburys and tescos (: Especially the apple pie flavoured ones.

^ Ditto on the Nakd bars, they taste much better than I could ever have imagined! Had the cocoa and mint and cocoa and orange ones so far. Some shops do a 4 pack which would be nice for a hamper.

I've been veggie for years but recently went vegan for a month, or attempted too and am still on the lookout for new vegan products - found some really nice vegan products (and some not so good) and although these aren't very 'Christmassy' I'd still be happy to receive them in a hamper:

These have been some of my better finds, not all sweet but for me I'd rather have a mix of items as more useful:

Plamil garlic mayo - Holland & Barrett

Lazy Days Food - Millionnaire's Shortbread - lovely! Sainsbury's - do other items in the range too, in the Free From section, not cheap but worth it.

Didn't like any of the vegan choc so far..

Alpro choc desserts - LOVE these! no need to be chilled and only £1 in Waitrose and Asda (in the free from section) (Morrison's 48p more expensive, Sainsburys 25p more expensive even though on offer at the mo).

I'd also like to receive salted cashew nuts (though think some people would have ethical issues over use of palm oil which I believe is used by some shops?).

Tinned chestnuts? Got some from Ocado, were great.

Maybe add in oatcakes? I find I've eaten a lot of houmous being vegan..

If you want to add alcohol, Co-op are supposedly good at labelling vegan items ie wine. Have not checked there myself yet.

Will have a think what else I've enjoyed the past month..

La Bio Idea do a lovely vegan pesto though only from indie health shops. Think Sainsburys had Meridian pesto in the free from section which I think was vegan, as a high st alternative.

Alcoholwise the Co-op are good with labelling, as are M&S.
