Just be a little careful here, although delicious these can be short dated. I'm sure what's on sale atm will have a BBE before Christmas Day (not that it would stop me from eating them, but as a gift, I'd want to plan in advance....)

The other luxury item I would add to the hamper are some vanilla pods - as Edwardia pointed out a couple of weeks ago, Lidl were selling these at a v good price. I thought they would have sold out, but weren't placed with the baking goodies and there were stacks left.

So I found out when I got home (06/12) I was too busy looking at the ingredients. They are yummy and are going down well. :rotfl:

  • Fry's Cream bars, Jamiesons Rasberry Ruffles, Ruffle Bars, After Eight mints (the proper ones not the fancy selections) are all Vegan. Real Turkish Delight (check it's real made with cornflour and not the fake made with gelatine stuff).

some CoOp own brand, M&S and Siansburies wine is Vegan too, check labels.

After eights are not vegan. They contain butterfat ;)

Sorry not had them for about 5 years I was unaware they had changed the recipe.

    These vegan marshmallows!
They are pretty expensive but you do get a small bucket full, and the coconut ones are incredible, as are the strawberry.

These look fabulous. My partner will love getting these in his stocking cause he hasn't been able to eat marshmallows for 15 years!

    Hi jeanmd,

It's lovely that you are making this hamper for your daughter, I'm sure she is going to love it! I have made up a few hampers in the past for my brother who is also a vegan. Here's a couple of thrifty suggestions from me to add to the great ideas already given:

Pergale Dragee chocolates in Poundland such as Dark Chocolate Hazelnuts and Dark Chocolate Almonds. They come in lovely packaging which looks good in a hamper and the quality is very good, my brother was the one who recommended them.

The best buy has to be this Lotus Caramelised Biscuit Spread which you can get in Waitrose for about £2.49. It's a perfect substitute for chocolate spread. You could also add a packet of the original Lotus Biscuits which are also vegan and less than a pound.

If I think of anything else I will post back! :)

Thanks, I'll call and get some of the Pergale Dragee chocolates. Unfortunately the nearest Waitrose is 22 miles away. I'll keep a look out for it in other stores though as I love the biscuits and if I don't find any before xmas I'll tell my DD about it as she has one near her.

Jamieson Raspberry Ruffle bars now say may contain milk, so no longer suitable for a vegan.

The one on my desk doesn't say that and it is in date.
