If you have a waitrose near you and you are prepared to do a little work for it,you could try one of the links on the try me free thread for the lotus caramelised biscuit spread...

Basically its a spread similar to peanut butter or nutella thats sold in waitrose for £2.49 but at the moment there is a try me free on the product...you will need to send away your name and address, till receipt and a 15 word statement and they will refund your purchase...but for the cost of a second class it makes for a present well within the 50p budget!

  • Don't have much advice but I just wanted to say I think this is an adorable idea! If you put your heart into it then it could be really romantic too. I'd love to have somebody to do this for me (and vice versa), it's very sweet and you are both very lucky to have each other to share her "fantastic" (it really is fantastic you know) idea with.

If chocolate is off the list does that mean hot chocolate is too? You can pick up the individual sachets of them (even Malteser ones or Mint Aero Flavour) for under 50p especially in the likes of B&M bargains or sometimes the main supermarkets have them at 3 for £1. I don't know if it HAS specifically to be 50p a day or if it's no more than £12.50 for the 25 days in total? If so you could be a bit flexible... I mean if you give an IOU one day then another day you could stretch to a 99p pair of handwarmers (the heated pouches) from B&M or Home Bargains?

See what you can blag for free to, if you have a female friend or relative that might be willing to give you the sample sachets or free gift out of a magazine. They might give you a perfume or makeup sample at a beauty counter in a department store. Just say that you want to buy your Girlfriend a new perfume for Christmas and was wondering if they had any samples for her to try and make up her mind which one she wanted? Check out the freebies board too!

You can pick up cute nail files for very cheap and they are always handy. There are kiddy type things that even adults find fun like popping candy, stickers, even temporary tattoos lol. Charity shops can be good for picking up decent things cheaply...you never know what you might find.

Good luck and please keep us updated as to how she likes what you manage to come up with!
  • Maybe try New Look for the Jewellery in the sale section-they normally have rings, earrings etc for cheap-also in Boots, superdug and primak if u have one.
    A facemask/hair treatment sachet?

    "Fantastic" idea indeed! :rotfl:

I might try that one on DH, just to keep him on his toes.

Mind you, I'd probably end up with 25 Kit-Kats!

It's a shame you didnt get more notice. A friend and I make I advent sacks for each other using only things we have got for free but we spend all year collecting them. Look out for buy one get on free, samples being handed out, free gift with purchase, etc. The freebies boards on here are great!

Strawberry tic-tacs are very nice and low calorie!

Or how about a voucher you make for a "free massage" or a "I will cook you dinner" or "breakfast in bed" voucher - I would love something like that!!!! :T

Whilst you're heading around the different shops look out for charities selling raffle tickets, they usually have prize draws around this time of year, or if you see any church or school fairs that are on in December you could have a walk round one of those as a 'day trip' I think they only ask for donations as entry or some won't charge any entry fee and you could also get a raffle ticket too.
Could you cook one night, would it still be under 50p if you used things you already had? You could use the flower someone else suggested as a centre piece
