I am not at all impressed by orange; I suppose it is simply the fear of "jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire", or staying with the devil you know and all that.

Thanks for clarifying the "Anytime" question. I dont know what "LLU" is. Does it mean a direct supplier rather than a middle-man?

Sounds to me like Vigman got a really good deal.

yes, it means if you get a service from a supplier who own the equipment in your local exchange it will be cheaper for you, as if they don't have equipment in your exchange, all they do is buy the service off someone that does then resell it to you, hence a higher price.

Thanks, I have just had a look on "samknows" and they list the following service providers for my exchange.
    • BT Wholesale ADSL
    • BT Wholesale ADSL Max
    • BT Wholesale WBC (21CN)
    • BT Wholesale SDSL
    • Bulldog LLU
    • TalkTalk (CPW) LLU
    • Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU
I think it is probably better for me to go for the BT offer. They offer Anytime calls and Mobile wifi access which orange do not. They are also cheaper. The BT plan (Option 1, Total broadband) does have a 10 gig a month limit but I use far less than that and if I were to go over the limit it is just £5 for a further 5 Gig.

So far as customer service is concerned I shall just hope I never need them.

If there is a provider you would prefer but not listed, give them a ring just incase, as EE (or Orange ) were not listed at my exchange but on ringing turned out to be there, the guy at EE said samknows can be out of date.

edit, itn't Sky an option? read on here they are meant to be cheaper than BT and unlimited too and also do not restrict your speeds at peak times? no idea just repeating what I have read.

Horrange (EE) use BT's network, they abandoned their LLU network to BT, who manage it, in 2010.
As do all the other ISPs where they don't have an LLU presence at a given exchange.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Yeah I remember him saying something about BT being there but lost him lol

So does that mean EE is at all exchanges now as I guess BT is at all exchanges, which in turn means EE is?

sorry I'm confused again now :o

I thought all ips buy the service of BT if not at an exchange, so if this is what EE are doing at all exchanges why do they offer two different prices, and state you need to be in the BB area to get the lower price?

EE are going to launch a FTTC service next year, however Orange has been losing customer share for fixed line broadband since 2007. Which is why they abandoned their LLU network I guess. The only explanation I can think of is that where their was legacy Orange kit at an exchange they charge a lower price. Maybe someone else knows.
