So here we go then - my challenge has officially started and I need to clear £10,000 off my debt by by the 24th April 2008. Tough I know, but I can do it ;) .

    My schedule is:
    • Clear Capital One card by end of June 2007 (£940)
    • Clear Barclaycard by end of July 2007 (£380)
    • Clear LloydsTSB Platinum card by end of September 2007 (£1,300)
    • Clear LloydsTSB loan by end of November 2007 (£1,700)
    • Clear loan to sister by end of December 2007 (will be around £600 by then)
    • Clear LloydsTSB Gold card by 24th April 2008 (£5,000)

Ambitious I know and I will have to work my butt off to achieve it (especially that 5k card!!) but if I clear all that then I will have enough money to move out next year :j . Also, all of those debts are what they are now so by the time I start on them, they will be less. Clearing all of those will mean I have a spare £400 a month.

My birthday was non-eventful really. I didn't receive a proposal and I don't think I ever will to be honest as my boyfriend is more interested on wasting money on holidays and boys toys than growing up and making a commitment to me  (sorry, had to get that off my chest).

He is now talking about going on holiday to New York in August and flying first class!!! I told him there was no way on this earth I would do that as I would rather us save for our own place. He is just doing my head in even though I do love him. I can't seem to drum any kind of sense into him with regards to money.

Anyway, I better get on with those competitions and questions :D

Oh, I'm sorry I missed your birthday Emily - happy belated birthday!

Good luck with the challenges you have set yourself for this year, they're going to be tough, but if anyone can do it, you can!

Sorry you didn't get your proposal, and that your bf is doing your head in a bit - I think quite often one half of a couple is more interested in becoming debt free than the other, and it can be hard work persuading them, but if you really love him, you'll get there in the end.

Could you maybe compromise, and say if you meet your challenges you will go to New York with him in 2008 (but fly economy)? If you will be saving £400 a month you could afford a little treat once you've paid off the credit cards.

Thanks Snaggles. Hopefully I will be able to get through to him eventually. Any tips on getting him to live in the real world would be much appreciated!! ;)

Good luck with your challenge - I'd like to be debt free by 30 too though I have less time to go (just under three years  ), it's really inspiring reading how you and others have managed to meet their targets.

Just under three years  I have got just under three months

Ive got no chance unless I win the lottery :rotfl: but I have decided to leave my spendalot twenties behind, its time for the thrifty thirties! (gulp, how did I get that old?!)

Good luck to Emily, you can do it! :T

    Hi Emily,

Good Luck. Sorry you didn't get a proposal. I am now hinting heavily ie going to as many weddings as poss. Don't think I'll get it though I'll have to ask him. It is always me who does these things.

!! Just had a look over the last page of this string, how come you win so much stuff?! :rotfl: do you enter a lot of competitions?

Girl, you have got to put yourself first sometimes. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how many people care about you, everyone has still got to stand on their own two feet, and in order to do that, you have to make yourself number one every now and then. It doesn't make you any less of a nice person.

Thanks :o - I enter a lot of competitions. I'm probably a bit too obsessed with it to be honest;)

I think I have learnt my lesson now in terms of putting other people before me. Any other prizes that I don't want will be sold and put towards my debts :D

Sigh, I obviously need to enter more then!! I should do really as I get bored quite quickly and could do with something else to keep my attention.

Well good on you, you obviously get alot of answers correct!! And good for you re: comp prizes too.
