I followed your previous challenge with interest so look forward to this one too (already subscribed to the thread so I can find it easily!). Think you've set yourself a hard task but judging on last challenge performance you'll do great - wishing you the best of luck.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Thank you everyone for your kind words - I know I can do this challenge
After my wages have gone in at the end of this month, I am going to change them over to my Nationwide account which has got a direct debit facility but no overdraft and no debit card. I'll then get all my direct debits put on that account so that I can then chip away at the overdraft gradually. I'll also get my AQA money put into my Nationwide account. This way I can then get the overdraft down on the LloydsTSB account and keep reducing it over time.
I've just been accepted for another mystery shop worth £10 and I've got 3 tomorrow which will get me over £30.
I'm going to list some items on Ebay this evening which are mainly prizes so that's free money towards my debt.
I've worked out a way to find time to do my postcard comps too - write them out at work!! I did a load today as we were quiet which is great

Good luck Em, I followed most of your other thread so I know you'll manage this one too. I come from Gosport, but now live away, maybe when I'm next visiting the area we could meet up? I would love to get some of your persistence, enthusiasm, foresight etc, so you could try and do the touch thingy majiggy and see if it can flow through!!:rotfl: :rotfl:When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0

Hi everyone
I've already posted about this on my credit card challenge but I wanted to get everyone's opinion who read this thread too.
Basically, I have won £600 to spend in the Grattan catalogue. I have already decided to let my sister and my mum spend £200 each as they really deserve a treat.
My dilemma is, do I spend my £200 share on myself or do I buy something like a games console which I know I could easily sell on for around £200?
I know it might sound a bit loopy, but this feels like my dad has sent this to us as a gift as it was my mum's birthday on Wednesday last week and it's my birthday on Wednesday next week and my sister could buy something for the baby.
However, I know the sensible thing to do is to get something to sell to cut my credit card down a bit.
I'm confused! (not that I'm complaining about the win).
Any advice/opinions appreciated

I think its beautiful what you are doing for your Mum and your Sis but I think that you should do a little something for you to. You have done an amazing job and should be really proud of yourself, my head spins with all the things you manage to get up to.
I agree and think you should treat yourself, you are not spending anything after all, you won it. You have done so much and a bit of you time can give you extra motivation and make you feel even fabber about yourself.
BTW, I would love to join you in a similar challenge but with £20K of debt and less than 4 months to go I think I will stick to chering you from the sidelines!0 -
My mum and sister are really pleased with their share of my prize.
I've decided to get something with my £200 to sell on and then pay that money off my capital one card.
There is a camcorder on there that I can get for £200 that I would be able to sell for at least £150 (I know this is less but things are always more expensive on catalogues  ).
I think that I would be happier knowing that I was doing something useful with the prize rather than just spending it for the sake of it. Also the sooner I clear that damn card, the sooner I can start on the next debt

Go for it then girl. But never feel down, you've done so well and should be bigging yourself up big time because what you are doing is remarkable. I'm a newbie but I have read through the forums and your name comes up again and again starting new challenges and spending time helping everyone else get as motivated as you. It takes a lot to do that but damn you do! You are one of my motivation targets, I can do that too! You help me get my get up and go and say I can keep this up I can do this I can beat this debt!
I have no doubt that your Dad is very proud of his daughter and is looking on you very proudly and with a big smile.0 -
