Universal Job Match at http://jobseekers.direct.gov.uk

The DWP's own advice to staff is that they CAN'T make a 'Jobseekers Direction' to sign-up to Universal Jobmatch or allow the DWP access to the account. Nor can they sanction a claimant's benefits if they don't sign-up.
They are currently in consultation with regards to what to do about sanctions that have already been made but will probably require individual claimants to appeal and present available evidence I posted above. If an older user could post a link that would be great.0 -
I was given a direction to sign up and threatened with a sanction if I didn't, then at my last interview I was shouted at because I hadn't given access for my advisor to look at my account. Is it really right that I don't have to give them access?0

Put in a complaint as anyone at my JC gets thrown out if they shout at the advisors!
You do not have to sign up nor do you have to give consent for them to look at your account.
As long as you write down all the jobs you apply for thats all you need to do.We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Shouted at? Seriously? Did you shout at them?

Yes, I was shouted at and of course I didn't shout at my advisor. I couldn't risk ever losing my money or getting kicked out.
Thank you for the clarification. I've already made an account and I don't mind using the website but I don't like the idea of them having access to it whenever they want.0 -

Likewise
I've also signed up to UJM (necessary to 'apply' for jobs with no contact info) but I took great pleasure in telling my 'advisor' there was no way the Job Centre were getting my permission for access - I don't appreciate being spied on. She was fine with it.0 -

This is gross unprofessionalism. Could others hear this shouting? I'm in agreement with AP007. I hope you remembered the advisors name. Make an official complaint. After all, you would not stand such abuse from any other industry or sector now, would you? Just because a person is out of work, it does not mean they should be treated in a lesser manner.0 -

Well, of course what the DWP is saying must be a load of bull because I was one of those sanctioned for one payment for declining but I didnt bother appealing as I knew they'd probably reject it, if the decision maker had a clue in the first place about not being able to sanction, he wouldnt of done it. Clearly certain job centres are directing people to sign up and sending them to decision makers. Its a joke to be honest, if the rules arent clear then why should we be sanctioned, furthermore it should be dealt with quickly.0 -

Suppose youre right on that and that last sentence about them losing it on purpose is just sickening, I wouldve sent it the normal way if I did it as well so if I ever need to appeal, Ill record it next time.0 -
Now the UJM site has been taken over by spam, from Agency Central. There's pages of jobs from them, and they're just phising for money, and to inundate you inbox with spam. Hope JCP realise that's what you get when you don't check who is posting jobs. Hope someone fixes this and soon! :mad:There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0
