  • i would like to warn people taking a gamble on buying things on the say so that amex will refund if fiursquare is not working.
i had a spending spree in london on 29 th and 20th with ten cards. all but one card loaded fine, the other had problems syncing(it kept going around in a loop) on one card gap, j lewis, harvey nics and hmv didnt track and there email message was basically 'tough'
this was the card that didnt even have problems syncing.
they confirmed i was signed up to 'west end promo' and 'small shops' but they even havent honoured the j lewis £25 off £50 west end promo dispite confirming that i've signed up to it. they say it was not part of west end but this months Foursquare promo.
I've emailed them back. but as such i havent had a reply.
i'm £75 down because foursquare didnt track it and amex dont refund.
    BEWARE

I am wondering why it seems many people have so many amex cards? I applied and received 1 Amex card just for this Foursquare promotion a few weeks ago, is there a way for myself to get more Amex cards so I take advantage of this promotion even more?

    As I mentioned before, I think it's:

new start date => new offer
extended end date => same offer

You can get more cashback on new offers only.

Re. extra cards, supplementary cardholders is the easiest way. I always double up on the cashback by using the wife's card too

And I don't have much sympathy for people with 10 cards "losing" money as you haven't lost anything, you've just gained less than you "should". I quoted "should" as people fleecing the offers will kill them off

Another question, I just remembered I have a supp Amex card but it was issued from another country, would I be able to sync that card for this cashback promotion?

The terms and conditions say they only work with UK-issued cards, but you could always give it a try somewhere where you're going to use it anyway (Starbucks?).

£75 down..? We're you buying stuff you wouldn't have done anyway? Amex/foursquare are literally flinging money at people with all of these promotions over the last month or so and people can still whine? Perhaps if you didn't kick the !!!! out of the deals so much then you wouldn't run into problems!
  • Why are people jumping on his back for taking advantage of an offer? Of course you buy things that you wouldn't normally buy: I spent £50 on a Christmas present for somebody last week in Urban Outfitters. If the offer wasn't running I would have only spent £25 (which was my budget) so I'd be pretty peeved if it didn't go through.

Equally I went to Starbucks the other day and bought more than I would have normally to get it up to the £10 bracket as it then works out cheaper than it would have had I not done that.

You may also buy shop vouchers or top up a starbucks card, so you may not have to spend the offer amount immediately.

Although its a pity if some people over use the offers as it risks them being withdrawn, the forums should be for exchanging tips etc., on money saving and not for arguing with each other.

Vouchers or not vouchers, you're still spending more than you would normally, and who's to say you'll definitely go back or buy from there again?

Indeed, and I think quite the opposite. All I can imagine happening is the marketing team at Amex sitting down, looking at how many people have used their offers and as with any other marketing offer ever, the more the merrier. Why would they want less people to use an offer? Conversely, they WOULD stop the offers if less people used them because they wouldn't be seen to be working.

Would you still be peeved if you made 10 transactions back to back in Urban Outfitters and you only got £175 cashbsck instead of £250?
