Then buy a giftcard and sell it (to the girl at work?)

Yeah, I've already thought of that. Being the nice person I am though, I will tell her to give me £25 and I will get her a £50 gift voucher (rather than making a profit on it!)
  • i do things like that, then it back fires and doesn't track or compare (as in tesco/asda!) then i end up out of pocket!
  • 3 weeks ago I checked into GAP and Harvey Nichols and loaded both offers to my card and then subsequentely made the minimum purchases but have not had the cashback credited to my account. I called Amex up and they said I haven't loaded the offers to my card. So buyer beware, the Foursquare app doesn't always work! Amex refused to manually credit me either even though they saw I had sucessfully redeemed other Foursquare deals.
  • I managed to get this loaded at Harvey Nichs in Edinburgh, spent on Saturday and credited on Monday. Really pleased, thanks all !

What are people spending the money on in Harvey Nichols? The clothing seems terribly expensive. I bought some wine for £26 but can't help but worry that this is excluded, even though I've checked the terms and can see nothing to this effect.

Amex have no way of knowing what you spent the money on, all they need to see is a debit on your account. I spent the money on make-up for Christmas presents - very easy to spend £25!

It's not really much more expensive than other places that sell the same lines but the designer labels are expensive. Get vouchers and wait for the next sale if you can - not sure when the cashback deal ends. I have my eye on something and looking to get £50 cashback and hopefully a 20%+ discount if it's reduced in the sales

    You're dead right!

Managed to spend £26.89 in the food hall on various foodie gifts for stocking fillers. That was OK on the first transaction.....

But I decided I wanted a new EDT for myself and thought, OK, I will spend about £40 and end up with a net spend of £15. Errr....ended up buying a £95 Tom Ford Black Orchid scent :eek:Ouch!

And Mrs Mike Taff said she would spend the last £25 on 'a few bits of make up' and bought a couple of Bare Escentuals powders and a make up brush - £72!!!!!

So not quite the spend £75 for free I was shouting about on these forums before going to London!

It's probably a good idea that the Liberty offer wasn't working or it may have been a lot worse.....
  • could someone point me in the direction of where all the shops are listed on amex please?
i cant find it for the life of me!
  • Thanks for the OP of the Tesco offer. I bought a £40 giftcard, a DVD and a few other bits to take me to a touch over £55. I used a £5 off £40 and now this morning the £10 credit has appeared on my AmEx statement.
