I was wondering why the question was asked in the first place, because at the end of the day it is all down to the individuals. I know never to be ill and expect to be fed anything other than beans on toast. That he will always put his grandson, daughters and me first, and to never, never, expect suprises. Had my birthday yesterday and after all these years, thought he might finally come up with a suprise. AHHH well, no he did not. I know him better than he knows himself , but who knows miracles do happen, maybe next year.

Has anyone asked why you're interested yet? Haven't read the full thread so sorry if it's been explained!

hi, i think the OP was worried they were rushing things a bit because they are quite young, thats all... (correct me if i'm wrong OP) Still its an interesting thread to see everyone's experiences.

Got engaged Christmas day and married in April the same year. It's our 4th anniversary on Saturday. I'm 35. I met him when I was 29.

Engaged at 33 (and a half) married at 34 (15 days before my 35th), dh was 29 when we got engaged and 30 when we got married (20 days before his 31st). We will celebrate our first anniversary in June. We'd been together for 4 years when we got engaged and 5.5 years when we got married.

Whatever timescales you choose, make sure they're right for you and ENJOY all the planning!

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
