Porting out again without top-up?

My PAC with three expires on 20th Nov. I'm thinking of going with ovivo but I fear the sim will not reach me before the expiry of my PAC.

So I'm thinking if going payg for a few days in order to keep my number and avoid another 30 days with three.

Which network will allow me to do this for free or for low cost? I don't really fancy paying £10 for a few days only to port out again. ;)

You could just ask for another PAC code when yours expires and pay the line rental pro data for however many extra days you need use until the port goes through.

I don't think three allow that:
If you don't use your PAC within 30 days your account will carry on with us and you'll need to call us back to cancel and give 30 days notice or get a new PAC.

Seems to suggest I can do as you suggest but I'm not sure if their terms are worded sloppily!

I suppose I could ring and find out (lucky me :))

    Well, ringing three was fun...

Had to queue. A lady answered but then I was cut off.

At least they rang me back though.

Bad news is I have to pay another 30 days if I need to request another PAC.

What makes you think the Ovivo sim won't arrive quickly?

I ordered one for my 2nd phone and it came in 24hours

Yes it does but it's a one-off up front fee (I think). No minimum monthly top ups required but still get some allowances.

Because I am a pessimist and my post keeps getting delayed lately. ;)

Yes, you get some free allowances, but why do you need them if you are going to use the sim for less than a month?

I don't know any PAYG sims that require mandatory monthly topups.

The temporary sim is only required if the ovivo one doesn't arrive on time before expiry of my Pac, for the purposes of avoiding paying three for another 30 days.
I want to stay with ovivo because (potentially-if I have understood it correctly) it's only £10 one off in return for monthly allowances that apply every month even if the user doesn't top up again.
