2 adults and 6 children in our house, always have to do at least 2 loads a day to stay on top of it, my washing basket has only got 2 school t shirts in and a pair of socks ..( at the moment.) tomorrow i will have loads more.

There are only two of us here and I would average about 6 loads every three weeks. I prefer to do it all over a couple of days (only one in the summer when I can hang it out). I have no problems using my tumble dryer if its needed and would hate to have clothes drying all over the house as I used to.
I only change underwear daily unless things are stained as I really don't see the need to put fresh things on every day.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I was given a tumble dryer and when it passed away to tumble dryer heaven I could not afford one. I saved so much on leccy that vowed i would never get another.
However the frustration of clothes drying all over just stressed me to much so i finally got a new one this last week. I celbrated with a nice bath and wrapped myself in a fluffy rather then cardboard feeling towel.
Agree there is less ironing and whilst one load washed another dries so more time with the girls too!Don’t put it down - put it away!

I dont wash sheets very often as we are clean when we get into bed and only do them when they need it, dont do it weekly for the sake of it. try to relax about it all, do the sniff test and wear things for longer, even if you get an extra day out of your clothes it should drastically cut down the amount you have to do.Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

I don't want to cut down the amount I wash, I don't find it a particular chore, don't need to relax.
You know that nice feeling when you get into a clean bed, or use a fresh towel, or put clean clothes on. I like that feeling. And I think I deserve to feel like that when I get dressed in the morning. It's not about what I look like, or smell like, it's about how it makes me feel. I like to have a shower, wash and dry my hair and put clean clothes on.0 -

Someone where I used to work had a b.o. problem and I think it was (at least partly!) the clothes. He wore the same t-shirt day in day out. If his mum didn't wash his clothes for him they didn't get washed. It was really unpleasant.0 -
Another vote here for the launderette. I'm not going to fork out for a tumble dryer, the cost of running it, and waiting an hour and a half for a small load to dry, when I can go up the road to the launderette once a week with a ton of stuff and dry it all for about £2 in less than half an hour. Folded, bosh, job done. And half an hour's peace away from the kids. Bonus.

JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -

Sure you might be clean when you get into the bed but most people sweat during the night not to mention err residuals from other stuff that might end up making its way onto the sheetsIt's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0 -
I remember my mum washing On a Monday. That was washday.
A twin tub thing and a mangle.
For five of us.
We were always clean going to school.
I don't remember us having to go to the doctors much either.0
