Broken Mobile - Claim on house insurance?

Again I'd like to thank those posters for being really helpful and pointing out (again) that I am apparently alleging to commit insurance fraud. Perhaps Emy1501 you would like to post it again. In case we hadn't got the gist from the previous posters. Again. And then you could point it out again. And include some actual advice or an answer this time rather than just repeating what has been written already.
And then I could point out, again, that I was asking what steps I need to take to get my phone replaced/repaired because I was/am unclear on how insurance works.
Shall I go through it again or are we all clear that I was not clear on insurance? Maybe somebody else would like point out that I was asking people to aid and abet in insurance fraud? I think that would be really helpful if someone else could mention it. Again.0 -

So why ask about taking out insurance and then claiming a few days later? Why not ask about taking out insurance to claim on an already damaged item.
To me you are asked about attempting to commit fraud and are now trying to dig yourself out of a hole.
As your question well it's answered now. Look if you have accidental cover if you do and it happened away from the home check you have cover and then check item in question is covered.
Your insurance is likely to go up by up to a third so consider whether it's worth it.0 -

Well said! :T0 -
I think you may have noticed by now that taking out a policy on the phone is not a good idea , especially if your name really is Natalie and you were born in 1982 and live in Oxford.
Any insurance company could easily check that info against any new policy and claim for a broken S3 screen in your area.0 -
i was told by bg that i couldnt claim on a new policy if my appliances were already broke they werent covered
so the bg engineer was unfortunately tellin you to commit fruadWhat goes around-comes around0 -
However, it's normal for, say, AA and RAC to offer you buying a new policy at a higher price if you break down without cover and call them for assistance.0

Then it's very lucky, as has been tirelessly pointed out, that I don't intend to do this. Yes that really is my name, my year of birth and my hometown. Surely this goes some way to demonstrate that I am an honest person making, no, not even making, but enquiring about a potential honest mistake because it was confusing to me. It has been pointed out to me that what I thought was the legitimate way of doing things, is in fact illegal. Surely, if I was a mastermind intent on defrauding insurance companies, the last thing I would do is come on here and broadcast it.
I still stand by the British Gas thing though, they will sign you up for a year and the contract does not necessarily include a boiler replacement as a previous poster suggested, but repairs and services so a year's contract would easily cover the cost (I pay £32 p/m). It's really not worth getting in to a row over and I don't believe the engineer was asking me to commit fraud.
I'm really saddened by the attitude of some of the posters on here. I've used a lot of forums over the years, and have never been reduced to tears and made to feel as stupid as some of you have done. I came here for help and advice. Maybe next time you want to take a tone with someone you could think twice, people often only use these sites as a last resort because they genuinely don't know where else to go.0 -
