Having registered for the floatation, it seemed easier to open a Vantage Share Account so that cash can be deposited if I decide to go ahead and apply for shares when prospectus is released.I am waiting to find out more details before adding funds to Share Account. Can't seem to find any opinion on floatation anywhere. Seems a lot of people are in the same boat.Member No. 18 of the "104 free previews in 2008" club!19 down 85 to go0

theres not much time to receive a prospectus as they want the money ready in the vantage account on 1st May.0 -
From the HL website:
https://www.h-l.co.uk/offers/questions.hl
"Q: What price will I pay for the shares?
A: The share price will not be finalised when the client offer opens. Any application you make will therefore need to be based on the amount you wish to invest rather than on a share price. The Offer share price will be determined just before the shares begin trading, likely to be in mid-May."
I can't see how anyone can make an informed decision on whether to buy these shares or not at this point in time; they haven't said how much they are valuing the company at yet!0 -
It is rare these days to have a fixed price offer.
The LSE rules, that demanded something kept back for small investors, are long gone. The good old days of watching the market for a fortnight and then chucking a cheque into a tea chest at 09:45 on the closing day, are nothing like the fun they used to be. Good heavens I even made money out of a very dodgy proposition called EuroDisney.
The idea is that you are an experienced investor and can look at the accounts and decide for yourself, what the company is worth.
The publicity and ballyhoo tends to make you offer too much; that said real winners pull through (did you get your share of Google? I didn't!).
You can go for the striking price usually; but the nuclear power stations used to do that and one warm summer's night found themselves supplying electricity to the national grid for nothing.
I'm a HL client and they haven't even sent me the details:rolleyes:

I agree with this and there is so little time. I am a long time investor because of the discounts on ISAs but have decided to give it a miss. With such a large sum I would prefer to invest in a selectin of high yielding shares.0 -
Actually I can see in the press that this is a 700m£ floatation.
Considering that last year they made 24m£ of profits, that implies a P/E of 29, the same as Google's :eek:0 -
There Is An Optimistic Article About The Flotation On The Investors Chronicle Website0

Yes, I have shown an interest, which means seeing the prospectus online as soon as available. Money has been paid into Share Account, but that still doesn't tie anyone to buying unless sure.0
