Would you sell story to a magazine?

Couldn't you have taken the money then donated the same amount to the hospital. Many mags do run a line at the end that says "Mrs X will be donating the fee from this story to ...... charity.
I never got the option spendless - I was told from the word go that there was no payment and when asked was told *no budget*
I wasn't particularly happy with the write up either (like you!!)

Sell, sell, sell!!!
It's worth a go, like others have said, they might not want the story, and it's not as if anyone was hurt.
Mmmmm, now what can I sell a story about, got me thinking!!!LBM - March 2007

I would NEVER sell any story to a magazine or paper, I like to keep some annonyminity (sp) privacy to my life.
I know I post on here but no one actually knows me i dont think;!: im pretty much a private person and cant understand people putting out their "dirty washing" out for all too read.0 -

Its attitudes like this that made me think long and hard before our story was published. As previously mentioned I didnt get paid and did it to raise awareness for the congenital birth defect my DD was born with. (And feeling like I have to justify myself!!)
You are entitled to your opinion as much as the next person and if you wouldnt *sell your story* then thats cool but your post comes across as very judgmental to those who would.
It's a personal choice - no rights, no wrongs!!:heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob! Or I'll come round your houses and stamp on all your toys" The ONE, the ONLY, the LEGENDARY Gene Hunt :heart2:0 -

Actually, this site isn't as anonymous as people think, there are so many ways to trace back the IP address of someone to their supplier and access their personal details.
For instance, I've just traced you back to your internet provider and have the following information: You're called "Jan" and you're a mother.... frightening is it! :eek:Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

I sold my story about my debt to a magazine-
They paid me £100 and it was good on one hand but caused A LOT of grief on the other (fell out with DH over it and another friend as well...)
I don't regret it but I do think I should have thought more about it before I did it.

Personally I don't think I would cause I don't like people knowing much about me (except close friends and obviously family) but if you are considering it then I don't see why not!0

I wouldn't do it personally but then I'm the kind of person that like to lurk in the background.
Think about it and if the good outweighs the bad, then there is your answer!Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
I've sold my story to 2 magazines and the Mirror and bizarrely enough I didn't have any phone calls from friends saying they'd seen me or whatever, and my parents knew all about it and were fine with it. I went through an agency and I made over £2000. The first magazine (pick me up) paid me £1600!! It helped as said ex, who the story was about, had caused me a lot of debt and a lot of grief and I wasn't working (job hunting) so the money came in very very handy. As far as the ex goes, he deserved the story, he was a nasty piece of work who caused me and previous exes a huge amount of grief and also prayed on people's emotions with things like falsely claiming to have saved people in the tube bombings in London.
So go for it, and if you go through an agency rather than directly contacting the mag you may get more money, it depends how good the story is. I didn't have to pay my agent's fees, they were paid separately by the magazine. I just googled for real life story I think.0 -
When it comes to raising awareness for a condition not known about, where a charity is going to get heard about I would agree to do it, any fee offered would ofcourse go back to the charity.
When it comes to making money Im afraid i couldnt do it. Its all a bit too Jeremy Kyle or Vanessy Feltzy for me op.
