Would you sell story to a magazine?

One of my best friends (who was also the manager of my shop) died last year, whilst giving birth to her second daughter. Her husband seemed to move on very quickly, and within a year has got back with an old girlfriend (with whose MOTHER he has a 12 year old daughter) and moved with them 40 miles away, depriving Tina's family of contact with their granddaughters. Up to Tina's death they were the main carers for the first daughter.
It seems that the new girlfriend is now preganant, and got pregnant within 6 months of Tina's funeral. Plus they look likely get married, and the children have apparently asked the new girlfriend to 'be their mummy'
Tina's family found out about the preganancy, the marriage etc when they read it in Take A bReak magazine. I phoned the magazine and gave them hell, especially as it was published on the years anniversary of her death. Their defence ? It was p to the write to cgeck the details, what did I want them to do about it?
A bit off topic I know, but I guess I'm trying to say if you want to go public with any aspect of your life, please make sure it's not going to upset anyone or make you look a bit of a t!t.
Otherwise, go for it. You can but ask. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

maybe you could sell it as my life long amibition story? LOl
I have even got the "green light" from Mrs Dither. I said to her after watching the movie "I think I may have to make love (or words to that effect) Halle Berry. Are you Ok with that?". "Yeah, right" was the reply. That's a green light if I ever saw one!Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

Luckily she doesn't have time to spend on here what with washing and ironing my shirts, making my meals, mowing the lawn and cleaning my car.
She's a good little wife.

Nothing really interesting...
I've been toiling away for about 3 months trying to get a system working for a client and it's just not happening. The client has paid me a fortune and the bloody thing just won't work. Every day I got closer to the deadline (end of this week) and got more and more stressed, then this morning I got an email from the supplier of the system to say that all their customers have the same problem and they will deal with it.
I feel like a ton weight has been lifted off me!! Never have I been under such pressure! phew!Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

Hi Shamu
My DD was born with a congenital birth defect and I was approached by a mag through a support group for the condition. I agreed to do the story on a no fee basis to raise awareness.
I asked that they make a donation to the hospital that cared for her to be told *we dont have a budget for that*
Not two weeks later there was another story about a baby with the same condition and the mum had been paid £500    I wasnt happy
I didn't want to do the story and be thought of as making money from DD's misfortune but agreed due to awareness issuess!!!
I suppose the moral to my story is - GO FO IT

I agree with what both IA and DFC say, it depends on the story and whether you mind how it is worded. I have had a couple of letters published, one in the Daily Mail which won me a letter of the week prize and another in a magazine that is to do with a medical condition I have. In the latter the ending was changed to not quite what I said, not that it made me look bad, more that I wanted to give a stronger message to other sufferers, and what I said was more 'diluted' shall I call it.;)0
