  • Yeah the only one I've ever since dispense £5s is the Lloyds TSB on my campus when I was at uni. The Natwest cashpoint right next to it didn't though, so a long queue at Lloyds around December and March!!!
    1st LBM (Pre-Career Change): 01 March 2006 Debt Free Date: 28 April 2008 | Worst Debt: £7244.36

  • My co-op cash point is even more annoying, either its not working at all, or it is and the minimum you can withdraw is £20 (don't know why though as when you do it comes out as two tens) Grrrrrr!

Is £20 quoted as the smallest amount on screen or have you tried 'other amount' and typed in £10?

You know what, I don't think I've tried that, it just shows £20 as the smallest amount, will try next time though! Thanks!

This really bugs me too. I have to pay my sons bus fares too and from school but its not as simple as drawing out a fiver on a Saturday. I have to cash myself a cheque and take it to the counter. So i make them work for their money. I ask them for :
    £2 in 20ps
    £1 in 10ps
    £1 in 5ps
    £1 in 2ps

They run from their desks when they see me. ;)

Oh Judi this just made me laugh so much, thank you.
  • hey,

Barclays bank ATM machines allow five pound notes, but as you all stated before they come out worn and torn :(

we have a co-op cash machine on uni campus, that also dispences 5pound notes, but have to withdraw £15 to get that £5, really weird would of though i would be able to get a £5

barclays nationally have £5 in their system, usually press other > £5 and should be ok :)

I once withdrew about £60, and I got it all in £5's! M friend behind me was annoyed, as she wanted £5 and it would only give her £10 or £20 as it had run out.

More £5 notes for cash machines

HSBC said that 100 of its cash machines in the Midlands and south west of England were being stocked with more fivers in a Bank of England trial.
While all UK cash machines must have the capacity to hold all denominations of notes, demand and efficiency means most only give out £10 and £20 notes.
