They will just take money off you like your some sort of idiot.

I love how everyone takes themselves so serious here, well i've got to say even if i didn't get many decent opinions or much advice or even some constructive and none personal points of view im glad i wasted some time in your life by making you read a thread that you value so little just to comment, shame you missed my initial question entirely. Well done you!

And by the way to reiterate seeing as you clearly didn't read my original question, i was sold two loans not 'a' singular loan, just thought id point that out, again?!:D

I see OP has gone on holiday :)
  • OP - Although I wasn't a party to the original discussions about the loan(s), I suspect that any loan over £15,000 had to be secured - which presumably you couldn't do at that point - and so the person at the Halifax nicely put through 2 separate loans for you. I say "nicely" because they didn't have to do that. The rates on secured loans are cheaper than on unsecured loans. So..... the lower rate you thought you would get at £17k would have been a secured rate and the actual rate you paid was the unsecured rate.

My honest opinion is that they helped you out when you needed them and it's a bit rich to start complaining 10 years down the line.

Careful - most responses along those lines have been deleted. OP don't like it....

Doesn't matter, OP was silenced - like a little lamb :)
  • I've read through the whole thread, and I have to say that, in part, I agree with the OP... I have seen nowhere where they have downright dismissed any advice or opinions here, but rather been dismissive of the perceived attitude of some responders. I have to agree that some people's responses on here do come across as sarcastic and condesending. Some people are not as financially savvy as others and this forum should be a way impart knowledge from the more savvy to the less savvy amongst us.

The OP asked fairly straight-forward question if anything underhand had been done by Halifax, either to boost figures or make him take the loan at higher APRs then necessary. As it seems that Halifax actually helped him get the loan he required having been refused for the full amount in one go, then it seems there is not much to complain about. However, as he was mis-sold PPI at the same time (something which has only come to light recently), I feel it was prudent to ask the question. While what Halifax did may not have been underhand and was designed to help him not rip him off, it was certainly out of the ordinary and the question needed to be asked.

Maybe ask yourself how genuine the OP was - you don't get banned from here for no reason (normally).
