Has anyone heard of this ?

Of course we have, we've been discussing it for almost 2 years! Why are you taking the word of scammers instead of people independent of them ? They have their own self interest at heart, of course they are going to put it in such a way to part you with your cash.

And by the way the law hasn't changed at all, these invoices are still illegal penalties, they still have to take you to court and win to make you pay, unless you become a mug and pay them! The only thing that has changed is keeper liability, so if you own the vehicle they can direct letters to you. What's the big deal? They were doing that anyway.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

I have been reading the threads for advice and sent PE a proforma letter from Martins website refusing to pay under ground signs not lit at night and exorbitant fees ( 85.00 for being 10 mins over)
However I am losing faith as I have just seen one of the leaflets in their response letter stating the laws have now changed in favour of Private parking companies, who will now be able to claim the charge, the new legislation came into effect 1 Oct 2012

    Anyone hear about this?

    Getting Worried!
    thanks

Only everyone on this forum. We have indeed been discussing it for 2 years. A quick search on this forum of 'Protection of Freedoms Act' finds loads and loads of threads all saying 'has anyone heard about the new law...' and us responding again and again and again.

Of course a leaflet PRODUCED BY THE SCAMMER is going to mention the new law in a way that makes it sound best for them!

Sometimes I despair about the gullible people who take this carp seriously, what is it with people in this Country that a fairly crashingly obvious scam is believed just because the piece of paper 'looks a bit official'. So does a phishing email from your 'Bank'.

Like all the other posters on this board, you have a fake PCN. The law has not changed in any way that matters. Private parking tickets have not suddenly become magically enforceable!

The registered keeper must just ignore it and ignore the other letters that will arrive. The letters are easy to ignore and laugh at, when they arrive at the address of someone who knows it's all hogwash and not a real parking ticket at all.

The whole scam of fake PCNs relies firstly on people's ignorance of the fact that a random private company can't fine anyone, and secondly on their natural fear of parking tickets and the escalating costs/bailiff scenario. So PPCs copy the look of a real parking ticket and - hey presto! - the cash rolls in from victims who know no better.

There is no fine, no CCJ, no bailiff, no debt, no effect on credit rating, no Court, no repercussions at all from a pathetic, unenforceable fake PCN (= invoice) issued by a random third party.

Tick off the threatening letters here.

Watchdog clip with expert Solicitor's opinion here.

Barrister's opinion - read the answer at the bottom, it's very clear! - here.

So I recommend that you just play snap with the threatograms from debt collectors - choose to ignore and laugh at the scammer and their attempt to extort money. As I said, it's like deleting obvious phishing emails from your 'Bank'; a very similar con based on impersonation of authority.

    DO NOT PAY!!!! :D
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
