Super duper dishwasher tablets!

I am wondering how many more people are falling for this gimmick? My cousin bought a dishwasher a few months ago-her first one(I am on my third) and I found out the other day that she is using these super duper tablets in it. well thats fine, but.... she is also using salt and rinse-aid! Is anyone else being conned into this? She simply hadnt thought about it, and had stocked up on "finish" from costco on bogof to "save money". I then explained(sort of hated doing it-but I had to)that if she has these then she shouldn't need the other stuff and if she preffered the results of adding salt and rinse-aid then why not buy the basic d/w tablets or better still, the powder? (Lidl is good)/ Oh can I use powder-surely not? But I have a dispenser drawer shaped just right for the tablet-will it work-be ok etc etc. Now I am left wondering-is she just a bit dim or are there masses getting caught on this one? The whole idea of all-in-one tablets is that you do not need to buy the other stuff!

Is that right? Guess so. I use all the sh*t so thx fo the info. Is there not some benefit to the machine itself tho, esp the salt? You are on your 3rd machine. Just wondering...0 -
Yes-third machine over a period of 25 years!!!
Yes there is a benefit with the salt-there is not enough in the newfanggled tablets-far better off with the original ones, plus salt and rinseaid.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
The new Fairy Powder Bursts recommend that you still use salt & rinse aid.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

i tend to buy cheap tablets 30 for 99p in my local savers chemist, i allways add salt as i find that when my machine is low on salt and rinse aid even with 3 in 1's it does not wash very well0

So is there really any advantage in paying maybe 4 times the price for it as the cheapo tablets then? Believe me-Ive treid loads of different brands and my conclusion is-its all hyped up nonsense! What the heck is a "powder burst" anyway??? If I chuck in the powder-it "bursts" very cheaply

I agree. The only reason I ended up with these Fairy things is because I got the box free. Once they've finished, I'm going back to my tried & trusted cheapies.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

This is a quote from ukwhitegoods forum about 3 in 1 tablets: "from years of experience of these products in the field use a powder or (Fairy) Active Bursts as they are the only products that we can prove deliver the results without any issues. Use rinse aid in addition and you’ll achieve the best results possible and put salt in the resin container with the frequency determined by the hardness of your water."
They recommend that if you do use the 3 in 1 tablets that you should still use Dishwasher Salt and Rinse Aid. They weren't positive about the effectiveness of 3 in 1 tablets at all!0 -
I use the tesco own brand 5 in 1 but cut them in half
and have seen no difference in the end results.

i use finish classic and cut them in half cleans perfectly everytime and two washes for evry one tablet
best of all just got a huuge box of them reduced to £3 because there was a very small hole in the box near the top bargain
you gotta love the ticket lady as they are called in the web houseIf we can put a man on the moon...how come we cant put them all there?

We don't use rinse aid at all - we use malt vinegar and it works a treat and a lot cheaper in the long run....I am a debt counsellor working in the voluntary sector - we don't charge our clients for the work we do!0
