Sometimes it's nice to get something small because then you don't have to feel too grateful, you can just luxuriate in the sentiment they represent. Depends what your mum is like I suppose. If you give her a token, then next time she treats you then she'll know that a token is enough. Does this make any sense at all.

I work somewhere where if you so much as lend someone a tissue they buy you a thank you card - which is lovely- but I can't afford to buy them back so end up feeling guilty and anti-social which is not what was intended by the card I suppose. Is this relevant to your post? Probably not but it's bank holiday so a ramble is allowed?

I think you're right planbetter, my mum was very grateful for the flowers as she wasn't expecting them, she was just feeling really down so I think the thought cheered her up.

I'm going to be good today and spend no unnecessary money :)

I'm having an utterly !!!!!! weekend. DH has scratched all down the wing of my new (to me!) car and ripped off the wing mirror. I may have considered not getting it fixed as it's 8 years old but you now can't open the drivers side door. I dread to think how much it's going to cost to fix it.
On top of all that while we were in tesco his mum phones up and starts raging at him because we haven't seen her all weekend. She told DH on Thursday that she couldn't babysit at all over the weekend because she was going away on holiday and we've spent the weekend digging up crap and going to the tip. Hardly a nice relaxing weekend.
She's so childish- if she wanted to see us all she had to do is ring and come up. I could have made her take some rubbish away!

Anyway after failing so miserably with this week I think that I will just stay spend free for a few weeks until I have achieved a little progress. TTFN, Kaz

    Woohoo!! I'd love to join.

Hope I'm not too late. I've just joined the forums and as I'm also saving for a holiday (to Italy hopefully - yay!), this sounds like the perfect way to keep me focused on budgeting.

Hope your week gets better from hereon in Kaz.

How's everyone doing. I got given £40 for yesterdays photoshoot. I spent £10 of it today and took the BF out for lunch, the rest I've put in my money box which doesn't have a hole in the bottom of it, so I can't get it out.

I've just listed some more stuff for sale online, this is almost the last of my clutter, so I'm hoping that it'll sell. If not, then I'll have to resort to ebay, which I've been trying to avoid.

Welcome Nugg, when are you planning on going to Italy ?
Kaz2904, hope things improve for you soon.
jet77, yay for a good nights sleep
planbetter, do you have email where you work ? if you do, you could always send an e-card instead afterall it's the thought as you say.

Nice to see everyones weeks are shaping up rather nicely.
Tomorrow is withdrawal day for me but since its my day off I've decided not to leave the house, so wont withdraw till wednesday :)

Its not because Im a hermit but I've got a cold brewing so I'm going to treat myself and be very lazy tomorrow as the back end of my week is gonna be chocker-block!

I went to get bread from the co-op this evening, as we had none and fancied sausage sandwiches. The BF wanted something to drink, so I was nice and got him some, but ouch, co-op is expensive £1.02 !!!!
