My budget is going to be 82.40:

    20 - petrol
    30 - shopping
    10 - tobacco
12.40 - train fare to work
    10 - unbudgeted money

I have labelled envelopes and am going to draw out the exact change from bank when I am on lunch on Mondays and then share it out to the correct envelope. I will do my main wkly shop on fridays in Aldi with 25 pounds and then use the other fiver from the shopping 'pot' on Tuesdays for milk/fruit n veg.

DD goes on to packed lunches at school on Thurs and I want to prepare in bulk and freeze in portion sizes lots of yummy healthy treats for her but haven't got a clue what - any good ideas would be very very appreciated coz she can't live on cheese sandwiches for ever!! I remember reading a thread ages ago with lunch box ideas but can't find it anywhere now I really really need it!!

I know the 10 pound tobacco and the 20 pound petrol per week are worst case scenario and will hopefull be able to 'roll' money over in these envelopes each week.

I have got a bit of a head start this week as I'm off work and therefore am saving on train fares. I also filled the car up a few days ago so should have enough petrol to last me a while. So this weeks budget is only 60 pounds!! I'm living off my store cupboard until I do the weekly shop on Fri.

I take packed lunches to work. Have to admit that I was on soup about 4 times a week through winter though :rotfl: Generally I'll have leftovers a couple of days as I cook chinese-style quite a lot and they keep well for a day or two. Crackers and cheese/ham, pitta bread, box of homemade salad, little pot of houmus with celery and carrot sticks, big fruit salad with natural yoghurt, etc etc.

Just did a search on the OS board for packed lunches, there are some good ideas and futher links on it here

Sorry brassiclint and slowing fading - hope I have cleared up any confusion. Mind you, I have now deleted that post so in the process will most probably confuse everyone else as they won't know what you're going on about :rotfl:

    No problem :)

I usually start off the week really well, then by saturday I'm scratching my head a bit as I'm on the verge of running out of food! Might have a go with some meal planning this week

  • Bad bad bad me. I had to go to the shop to post a parcel, however as I was too lazy this morning to make lunch I got a roll to go with a soup that I had in my desk drawer, and some chocolate. Now the roll isn't too bad, the chocolate, that's about 200% unncessary.

So that's 73p of my £10 spent, will update my sig when I get home.
