netflix, rubbish library..........

just treat myself to a new tv from comet :D, txl42et5b at £580, and thought id take advantage of netflix free trial.

to be fair i thought £6 a mnth isnt bad as i usually buy a few cheap dvds from asda when im shopping.

entered my details and browsed the library.........was going to watch x2 as saw the first on tv last week.........thats not on. the wife fancied casino royle as saw skyfall last week........thats not on.

so i looked through the 'library' online and couldnt believe how poor it is!

will be cancelling my free trial same day as i took it!!

the wifes ordered sky hd in her name instead :D

I don't know what you expected for £6!
Sky has all the James Bond films exclusively for the next year.
I think to get the best use of Netflix or Lovefilm you have to look at what they do offer, not what they don't!
  • dont know if you can on a tv but if you change the dns you can access the US version of netflix which is 100x more superior to the uk version.

I agree about the American library being superior. I don't think it would be possible to use a "proxy" on a Smart TV, though.

I tried the free trial as well. Netflix in the UK is laughably poor. Needless to say, I cancelled the trial and paid zilch. Awful.

    have a look at http://www.unblock-us.com/how-to-set-up/

unblock-us may give you smart tv access to us stes i.e. netflix etc but is a subscription service
  • Access to the world's Netflix sites via UnblockUS is excellent. Netflix and UnblockUs combined is less than £10 per month. US and Canadian content is a lot better than UK (which does have a few little gems of it's own). Brazil and Mexico have had some big newer titles like The Hunger Games and The Artist.

But strongly second the comment about looking at what is on there rather than what isn't... you can do that with any service and you'll find it lacking. I've found it very good for US TV series that have had very little to no exposure over here - so far I've watched all of Breaking Bad (which has been worth the cost on it's own), Parks and Recreation, Louie, Community and a good range of movies from things like Iron Man II to the Danish comedy Klown. Another good thing is that the service works well - been watching via PS3, Mac and iPad. Cancelled Sky on the back of it.

No, the UK now has it's own (inferior) version!
  • Netflix is really poor... I heard many people bang on about it on Facebook, and when I went to check out the library, it was like my parents 1 shelf DVD collection, bare and boring.

Lovefilm's selection (for online) seems to be far superior
  • Netflix is kind of like when you go into a garage, or a post office and they have a small rack with about 10 out of date DVD's on it for £15 each
