That's a fair point.0 -

I have a rescue dog that we have had for years now, she came from the RSPCA and 4 years, 3 moves on we are still waiting for our checks to see if we are responsible enough to own a dog :rotfl: She is spayed because I didnt want the responsibilty of rehoming puppies, Up to date on jabs, ready to travel she has her own little passport that she waves to the man when travelling and is well groomed and cared for she is to me another child and I could never part with her.
They said when we got her she would never be able to be with other dogs as she had aggression problems, what they didnt know was she was aggressive as she was coming into season and now mixes with dogs of all sizes !!
Anyways back to OP I really hope she gives the kitten up to someone who knows what there actually doing with them.
It's not me who actually has the kitten, you know.0 -
I don't know if dogs trust do or don't rehome to forces families but if they don't then I can see why.
Working with local rescues and 2 dogs have been taken in from forces families in the last few months. One the husband was posted abroad, she got pregnant and said dog too much on her own, other the family moved to Germany.0 -

This is what makes my blood boil, im pregnant and cant cope etc I was pregnant with a dog and coped just bloody fine, Its because they dont want them !! And the worst thing is they will get overseas and get another dog !!!0 -
I will home cats to forces people based in this country, and insist that the cats come back to me if they are suddenly posted abroad. So far no problem, and they have been genuinely unexpected postings.
Young couples having cats and then giving them up when expecting does bug me though when I find out that they were planning to have a family when they actually got the cat.DONT BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS ANIMALS DIE. GET YOUR ANIMALS NEUTERED TO SAVE LIVES.0 -
It bugs me too, when someone is pregnant, i rehomed a kitten to someone who later told me when she had had the baby she would get another kitten, not from she wouldnt!!
Meant to say she got rid of it when she became pregnant!!0 -
I have never understood why people can't 'cope' with a cat because they get pregnant/give birth. Cats are so independant ......what is the big deal?!
To me it seems more a case of they have a new interest and can't actually be bothered with a cat anymore.
In most cases I would have thought the husband would be more trouble and time consuming than the cat....lolYep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -

I think it's the point of cleaning a cats litter box can be harmful to a pregnant woman and her baby. I can see how a single mother may have trouble doing this, but if she has a partner then they should be mucking in and cleaning the cats litter.0 -
People have different coping mechanisms, criticising someone for struggling to cope is not on.
Of course they should have thought about it before got cat/got pregnant but what's done is done and criticising leads nowhere.0 -
