Oooo, could you donate it to a museam? Or do you need the pennies (understandable just before Christmas!)0

Museums almost certainly have all they want- I would still say take it to a proper bricks and mortar auction house as memorabilia fetches extremely good prices.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I wish I could afford to be generous. Sadly,I have a house full of cats that have been "donated" & the donors forgot to leave any food or money. This cash would be well spent, cats don't neuter themselves(what a thought).
Thanks for all suggestions so far.We do have a few auction houses nearby so I will check for militaria sales.0 -
Could try eBid. They might allow the sale to go through. Seriously though, I feel that although it has a value, quite a few sites will probably refuse to sell it.0

Ebid tend to piggyback on ebay policies so will probably not allow it either.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I sold a copy of Kipling's Just So Stories on Ebay about a year ago that had a swastika on the cover that was printed when it was just an Indian good luck symbol. I used Photoshop to cover up the swastika then alluded to it in the item description.
OP you may be able to do that too if you have photo editing software, however you need to take care and not re-use the original sales page but rewrite a new one. If you got any sort of warning from Ebay about re-listing though it may not be worth risking your account even if you do this.0 -
I wouldn't risk relisting it, but if the OP has e-mail addresses of potential buyers it's worth at least finding out how much they'd offer (avoiding any communication via eBay of course).
A bricks-and-mortar auctioneer could be an option, but their fees tend to be even higher than eBay's, and it's probably only worthwhile in a specialist sale: it might not get much interest in a general sale. I once picked up a Nazi uniform cheap in a general auction sale and sold it on eBay for about 4 times what I paid for it. I knew that selling such a thing complete with swastika was against the rules, so I made sure the swastika wasn't visible in the main photo and worded the listing carefully. I probably wouldn't try it nowadays though, since eBay seem to be looking for excuses to suspend small sellers.0 -
Thanks to everyone for all your advice. I do have an account with ebid which I haven't got round to using. I could list it on there with something obscuring the offending symbol. If it doesn't work,I have some email addresses of interested parties & there are lots of dealers on the internet,I can send them a pic.
Thanks again everyone:beer:0 -

Seriiusly don't waste your time with Ebid, even if it doesn't get pulled it will not attract any real buyers, are there aren't any.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If you have the email addresses of the interested parties then you could setup a sales page on ebid, with the obscured symbol and point them at it. That way you'd get the best price as they would be able to outbid each other.0
