i have put my 1st item for sale on ebay and my auction has ended. The item was paypal only, but the buyer has emailed me asking if he can pay for it over the phone, or if not have my address to send payment to. Can anyone tell me where I stand over this as the only payment option I put on was via paypal?
Thanks

if this is the only method you wish to accept payment by then advise the buyer that this is what they have agreed to. I think from memory it would be classed as a non-paying bidder if they won't but i'll go and check the memory cells0

Taken from ebay user agreement policy.
Bidding and Buying.
As a buyer, you have a legal obligation to complete a transaction with a seller:
if you purchase an item through one of our fixed price formats; or
b. if you are the highest bidder at the end of an auction-style listing (meeting the applicable minimum bid or reserve requirements and including any bid that becomes the highest after a valid bid retraction) and your bid is accepted by the seller, unless the item is listed in a category under our Non-Binding Bid Policy or the transaction is prohibited by law or by this User Agreement.
By bidding on an item you agree to be bound by the conditions of sale included in the item's description provided that those conditions of sale are not in breach of this User Agreement or otherwise unlawful. Bids are only retractable in exceptional circumstances, such as when the seller materially changes the item's description after a bid is placed, a clear typographical error is made, or you cannot authenticate the seller's identity. Please refer to our Bid Retraction Policy for further clarification. As buyer, you must ensure that you are legally able to bid for and buy any item that you bid for.
I would suggest you reply nicely to the bidder and advise that the only payment method you will accept is via paypal as stated on your listing and take it from there. Hopefully they will understand - although I guess some coaching may be needed as to how to use paypal.... good luck0 -
Like everyone else has said, stick to your guns. Tell him that the auction clearly stated paypal only and leave it with him.
If after 7 days he has not paid start the NPB process against him.
Don't be harrassed into taking a cheque, it can be more hassle than it's worth.

Was the price you got good?
If so do you want to go through the NPB process. Tell him you don't accept cheques and he can either pay:- PO (recorded delivey) Cash (same) or bank transfer.
If the price was less than you wanted say thanks but no thanks.
Tell him you need to receive payment within 3 business days otherwise you will relist. EBay however give you 7 prior to starting NPB process but keeps the pressure on him.0 -
it was only £5.50, and i was quite happy with that, will see what happens over the weekend, thanks for your help.0
