I feel like Ive just been well and truely ripped off. Where the heck do they start to justfy such a huge sum of money. To pay their 'ad mans' fees I wonder?

£13 is nothing. Some poor sod at an insurance company call centre has to be paid for. The computers have to be paid for. The regulatory costs have to be paid for. The office and associated costs have to be paid for.

So, I think £13 is totally reasonable.

The rest is due to increased risk of your new postcode.

    Hastings Direct £40 + insurance premium tax = £42.

Not stated in documents either. Total disgrace.

OK, lets go back to the old method where the insurance premiums were more expensive and charges like this were hidden within that.

I think that's what this thread is about.
Giving people the information so they can make an informed choice.

Of course there are likely to many other factors (and probably much more important one IMO like coverage, initial cost and customer service).

That's because that is not an admin fee (Insurance Premium Tax not applicable on admin charges)

This would have been an additional premium due to a change in the risk

You dont pay IPT on admin charges so in raskazz's case just under £12 of that £42 is increased premium due to increased risk. £2 is IPT. The rest is admin charge which will be around £28

Not sure under what circumstances More Than charge for amendments. I've made an address change, plus several vehicle and policy changes in the last year and never been charged at all.
