  • Can anyone remember that deal for a years subscription of Radio Times magazines, you had to set up a direct debit but cancel your order after the fist payment went out?

When is the first payment due can anyone remember?

I'm not sure if it was a grabbit or a freebie??

Makes sense to me. We bought a fridge that went bang after thirteen months. Checked online and it was a major fault with the model and also found out white goods are expected to last six years or more or else you can argue it wassn't fit for purpose. Gave us the confidence to argue for a replacement not a repair.

  • Is there a success with MT today, and what was the 3rd please.
I tried the Thorton's Christmas yesterday, but did not work properly, so I have to return them, but I really need some MT.

    Hiya Celebrate

Omg is all I can say! I am so sorry you suffered at the hands of these 'wannabe management staff on minimum wage' type of people at Argos who feel they are there to police everyone, they are employees of Argos and hence should behave in a pleasant manner toward customers, we are what keeps them in business -I remember when the Argos manager contacted me personally after having a similar experience to you and said that exact sentence to me 'they are employees of Argos and hence should behave in a pleasant manner toward customers, we are what keeps them in business'

I totally agree with purdita, I would too be inclined to phoning Trading Standards and defo do some online research before you contact Argos.

I would like to add, contact the store manager first, explain the humiliation you felt, how long you were made to wait, the questions you were asked - some of them quite frankly are plain stupid. Do also tell them you are a GP, and as purdita put it really well - a well respected member of the community and you were embarrassed and humiliated in front of potential patients.
I'd demand a written apology, for the utter pillook of a trout (that staff member) to be spoken to, as you wish to put in a formal complaint. (you don't have to put this in, just say so to the manager, saying so usually makes any member of management realise how upset you are, well it worked in my company like so) ask for a full refund for the watch and a 'gesture' to show how sorry they are. This does not mean you are asking for anything simply asking them if you are a valued customer and should they wish to show you this by a gesture- they may. They should provide you with a letter of apology and min 20pounds gift card.

Defo stand your ground, we are all with you

    xx

Fudge_Cake... come back please, this thread misses you

No, just the free samples. I noticed the wine tasting but thought you had to pay for it. :(

Oh no, no it was all free, the Christmas cocktail one was the only one you didn't need a seat for as they didn't use real glasses just the small plastic sample ones for that but the others were always full when I walked past. My plan was to go to the 4pm Spirits one early after Gino but he over ran loads so was already full but he was worth it. ;)

    Hi curly
Good that you don't believe, one less for the free advice clinic ;)

    Thanks for replies
Just spoke to HO and trading standards

Confirms the absolute tripe they were coming out with was ... Well absolute tripe!!

With chip and pin NO signature is required, the signature is for till purposes only, I shouldn't have had to produce my driving licence to prove who I was
Secondly even when items are sold as a package you are entitle to return and reject the whole package if one item is faulty
Also Trading standards said if the paint had chipped off the watch within a week that would make the watch also unfit for purpose
Just waiting on phone call back!

...just spotted this, sorry had i known you had already called ts, I would not have written such a long post to contact store manager, feeling a lil :o now

    hope all goes well xx
