Charges to a cancelled card.

Well obviously, but I am not annoyed in the slightest about it, it's just one of those things where me telling my wife 'By the way I am not on Demon anymore, we are on Plus.net' would have solved it.
I choose not to dwell on past mistakes but look forward to some extra presents for the kids for xmas this year.0 -
Good to hear it was sorted out properly.0

In your OP you said...DrBarnacles wrote: »Just spoke to the bank and they were amazed that this had happened, they couldn't understand how demon were able to use a card that expired (not cancelled) in 08 for 4 years.
There's probably a very good reason for this inaccuracy? Maybe you lost it the day it expired? Still, not to worry...(you say) you've had only around half the money you were entitled to refunded, and you seem happy with that.Back in December 2008 I lost my debit card and had it cancelled.0 -
Yeah I think that it was a mistake on my banks part, I did check further back and the card was only started about 8 months prior to it's expiry so it must have been cancelled. The poor girl on the phone seemed to be out of her depth and must have been confused. I am just glad I got something back, and whatever error on demon's end will be resolved.0

Anyway I explained that I had no business with them since sept 10, and they were able to refund all charges as far back as Oct 11 which was the maximum they could action, giving me a nice christmas bonus of £270.
Oh well, that still leaves you having paid for a service you didn't receive for thirteen months.
You should, of course, have contacted Demon to find out why they continued to take payment for a service that had been discontinued.
Your unwillingness to confront the real bad boy here has cost you over £270.
Stupidity has its price. :rotfl:0 -
Thanks for trying to pee on my chips lol, I didn't miss the money when I was paying for it so I am happy to get something. I will be contacting demon when I get home (currently working away for the week) and finding out what happened at their end.
I don't understand your negativity tho, just be happy that I am happy and that someone got a nice little Xmas bonus they didn't expect.0 -

Well under PSD. You can only go back 13 months. prior to that its hard luck as even the FSA think that customers have a responsibility to check their accounts.
A case like this proves that PSD and the FSA's notion that once a CPA is cancelled it should never debit again.
Time that the FSA in cases like this had the power to haul the retailer over the coals for a failure in their accounting systems. Not just expect the bank to pick up the pieces because of a inept retailer.
If the OP really wanted he could take demon to court for failure to action his cancellation. Although the worry would be a judge would say that their is a duty of care on the OP's part to monitor their accounts. Even though the error is clearly laid at the retailers door.
And a pointer to the OP.... +Net are know for this same issue as well. :eek:Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
Thanks for that. I wasn't aware of this 13 month 'rule', although it appears the bank have done the OP a big favour here because, under Reg 59-(1)*, they didn't have to do anything as the OP didn't report the matter to the bank "without undue delay". Still, I don't suppose that'll appease the OP any!dalesrider wrote: »Well under PSD. You can only go back 13 months.

The OP's "cancellation" was pre-PSD anyway.0
