Im not sure that disabled bays at supermarkets are a right either. Its private property isnt it not a public road.

The bays themselves are just pretty squares on a piece of land that has no merit in law. But retailers has obligations under the equalities act so they are provided for any disabled driver or passenger who is disabled under the act. The blue badge scheme however does not apply to private land

Well actually there is - if you block someone in and thus deny then use of their car then YOU are breaking the law. I have three young children and I find normal spaces more than sufficient but of course I'm fit enough to walk an extra 100 yards !

I have 4 children and you are completely wrong. Parent and child bays are a gimmick to make you choose their store, spend longer shopping and spend more money. There is NO OTHER reason for them.

And as already explained by SodG24, 'blocking in' is illegal on private land - a CRIMINAL offence the same as clamping.

Criminal, in case people have difficulty with this - it means the police deal with it and the perpetrator gets charged! Great way to exact revenge against a solo motorist parked in a child bay!

Without naming anyone, can I make you all aware that this thread and entire website was formulated to assist people in defending their rights. It is not a complaint book whereby you make unflattering remarks towards those same individuals, nor is it to discuss morals. We are all agreed that people should not abuse child spaces though it is more important that this human error is not a criminal offence and nobody should be duped into accepting the wild demands of any unlawful enterprise posing as an authority.

Its got nothing to do with the width, or distance to walk, where do you get that from? Its to do with carrying babies and toddlers through the car park, it is more dangerous with kids trying to control them with cars flying about and thats saying nothing about trying to do the same coming out with a load of shopping as well as kids.
Its selfish thats all. When I didn't have kids I never parked in them and when my kids are older I won't. There is no law as you say but its still selfish, end of!!!
