switching to talk talk

Currently landline rental is with BT. Broadband is BT basic and all calls via TT inclusive package.

I am now thinking of switching full lot to Talk Talk to include line rental and broadband. Just querying if Talk Talk have reasonable customer service for when we switch. Are we likely to encounter any problems?

Can i use any modem with Talk Talk broadband? Can i use my BT Voyager basic modem or i have an old Actiontec ethernet modem? Can these be used or do i need to fork out £30 and get a new one?

thanks

Have you read this sticky

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=345488&page=14

Martin MSE says this in his article about it.

"Overall my summary is that if you want a guaranteed hassle-free speedy broadband connection, don't use TalkTalk. Yet as it's hugely price competitive, if cost is your priority and you can cope with the risk of some delay - go for it."

My parents are with Talk Talk for Line Rental, Telephone calls and Broadband. Transfer from BT was excellent, no problems what so ever.

We tried to change to talktalk last year - they didn't get the order right, tried to charge us for things we didn't ask for, told us we were definately in a free broadband area when we weren't, didn't activate the broadband at all and customer services were rubbish (to say it politely!).

MHO avoid like the plague - esp when you get the muppets who think they know more about your rights than you do and have no common sense! (i think i got all of them one day when i phoned)

Its like all things you normally here about the bad service customers have received rather than the good service.

We changed to them 2 weeks ago and used our own wireless router apart from an initial problem with our router which Linskey's ( the router manufacturer) sorted out via afreephone number we have had no problems.

My brother inlaw also changed at the same time and the technical support team have sorted out his problems after a phone call to them and all is working fine now as well

Thanks for replied. I was inspired to consider changing after a friend said he had changed all his line rental, bb etc to Talk Talk and he has had no bb problems. Maybehe has just been lucky.

Considering the cost savings compared to how we get bb and rental is considerable.

Only question can we use existing BT voyager modem? or can i use a ethernet modem (actiontec) which i have from 2 years ago.

Still with them just...despite a number of problems...down for over a month, Indian call centre nonsense where you talk to someone trying to speak English called Albert or Dorothy, get sympathy, apology and asked to ring another number where you get cut off..

Chased by Debt Collection Agency due to their incompetence.... one part of the organisation does not know what the other are doing...in fact have a colleague who works for them.... he confirmed that none of the departments are linked...ie consumer complaints, billing...

Down again recently for three days...but this may help if you encounter problems...after my month off line fiasco I was given this number which you text with the following codes....seemed to work for me recently.

    TEXT 'llu(YourPhoneNo)m' to 81444

Overall good value for money, customer service p**s poor but if you can live with that...and I'm certain you will encounter problems...go for it.

    Good Luck :D
