I flew with Monarch in Feb to Barcelona and it was the real one in Barcelona, not Zeus, Reus or whatever the others are called.

    Hope this helps:

Barcelona (El Pratt) Airport BCN - The "real" Barcelona airport. And is the only one actually called Barcelona. 16Km from Barcelona city centre.

Reus Airport REU - In Reus and is the airport the charter airlines fly to for the Costa Dorada. 103Km from Barcelona city centre. Ryanair fly here and, rather creatively, sell it as Reus (Barcelona.)

Girona Airport GRO - In Girona and is the airport the charter airlines fly to for the Costa Brava. 92Km from Barcelona City Centre. Again some Ryanair fly here and sell it as Girona (Barcelona.)

Monarch Scheduled flights fly to the "real" Barcelona airport, i.e. BCN in Barcelona. So if you booked with flymonarch.com you will be flying to BCN. However Monarch do fly some charter flights to Reus and Girona. Where did you book your flight? If its ZBxxx its a Monarch scheduled flight and will be Barcelona BCN.

AFAIK only Ryanair sell airports as the "wrong" place. Other low cost airlines simply call them the right name.

But the activities of UK airports such as "London Luton" don't help matters - who are they trying to con?

I got a £22 return fare with Ryanair for the end of May.
I`ll be staying in Salou, from where there are 6 coaches a day to Barca, which takes just over an hour, about 12 euros return.
There are also the organised "siteseeing day trips" from Salou for 16-90 euros.
On top of this there is the train which runs a regular service, about 11 euros return.

    Thanks bagand96

This has cleared it up for me. My flight is a ZB flight so it looks like the airport will be Barcelona.

Most people book a cheap Ryanair flight to either Reus or Girona and then travel to Barcelona.
Ryanair fly every day of the year to Reus which is next door to Salou.

Surely if you are flying direct to Barcelona that is the place you should be visiting and not Salou?

Surley there are no rules attached as to what I "should be" doing on my holidays!

    Of course not Ceewash

The point I was trying to make is 99 times out of 100 Barcelona flights are a lot dearer than Reus or Girona and Barcelona is a great place to visit.
Some people don`t mind paying the extra to arrive on the "doorstep"as it were.

    Have a great holiday.
