Hi, I go to Chocolate Pink on Whitchurch Rd Cardiff. They have a special promotion on at the moment, where you get a free Tigi hairapray if you spend more than £35, (ends 31st Aug). They're also starting a loyalty card scheme. I had a great new hairstyle and the staff are really enthusiastic and friendly.0

I used to always have my hair cut at a training school. Because they were cheap. And yes they are slow, but that is because the cutters ONLY cut once they've got approval from the trainer.
Thanks for the lead that there's one in Cardiff.
I desperately need a trim soonest, then streaking ... so this thread is invaluable. Quite a lot in my part of town too.0 -
La Zarou are a bit of a rip. Junior stylist for 11 quid. fair you get a wash and dry, and a bit of a shave, but the cuts crap!0

Hi
There is also Coleg Glan Hafren's hair and beauty training college in Castle Arcade, across from the castle. I am going there tomorrow instead of Ken Picton who was getting very expensive for me. I shall let you know how it went.0 -
The Design Academy in Castle Arcade was very good. I had a 3rd year trainee and she was excellent. I had the colour done by the trainee and my hair cut by the manager as they were running a bit late. It is excellent and everyone was really friendly and all for a fraction of the price at Ken Picton. Result0

You should try Guy Christian on City Road, loads of free parking spaces and reasonably prices cuts. If you want a really good all over colour, either perm or semi-perm, if you phone and ask for Tim to do it, you'll only get charged between £10 - £15!!! (That's my fiance who is currently training as a colourist) and he does an awesome head massage and blow dry! guychristian.com 029204730730

hi i have a good bit of advice for you dont go to cardiff salons, im not saying that there arnt any good ones because there are, the problem is that you paying big ££££ to cover their huge over heads.
find your self a quality small town salon, there are loads with stylist that are better than most in cardiff. just because your paying big ££ does not = quality or value.
there are some very good salons on the out skirts of cariff city some very good ones in cowbridge that ive tried.
i use www morganshairsalon com who are based in caerphilly ive been to most of the salons in cardiff, most dont even come close to the quality of cut you get here or the value. l work in caerphilly hench why use them. but now i have found them i would travel to get to them with out a doubt.
basically my advice is to get out of the big city price joke !!you dont get value.paying a fortune does not guarantee you will have a good cut
(i bet you know some one who has paid over £100 for a hair cut, they were dissapointed with)
thats because when you pay big bucks your expectations are very high, hair dressers (good ones) are the same no matter how much you pay.
finding a good one is the hard bit. paying huge prices does not mean you get a good stylist.
good luck

I use Sands Hair in Penylan http://www.sands-hairdressing.co.uk/ I pay about £43 to have my hair done and have never, ever had a bad result in almost 10 years of going there. The stylists really listen to what you want and you get a complimentary head massage before they start cutting which is great for relaxing you.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0
