Oh ok. We call them different things that is where I got confused! Um maybe about 5 or 6 in a 3000 word essay then.

So far I have used 12 on my 6000 wod research project.

But to be fair I do not need loads of quotes to know the objections as I can think them up myself.

Do you not need to show that you know and understand other people's opinions, though, Phil? I thought that was the idea of degree level education - critical analysis.

I do deal with other's ideas and then work on my own objections to them.

That is how stupid university is they never tell you how many sources you need not even roughly. Nor do they ever tell you how to find sources.

It is all that magic academic stuff that you are just meant to know.

I find that hard to believe, Phil. Where I'm doing my course, we're offered all sorts of help, and know where to go if we need any extra. You just need to help yourself and not sit and expect people to know what help you need.

It is not something lecturers tell you, put it that way

Mine do, and if they didn't, if it was something I needed to know, I'd ask.

You are lucky, we were never told anything on my course. You were just meant to know how to do it on my course or that is it. No lecturer ever says about wider reading, how you are meant to find it or use it or anything,

Not lucky, just bright enough to ask for help if I need it. Are all the students on your course struggling to find sources for further reading? \does your uni not have a library - that's the starting point for your further reading, and the reading list for the course.
