I know, I tracked him down on FB and am more enlighted. Poor chap though, seemed like a really nice guy.0 -
Its not about keeping your nose clean - anyone can be suspended /thrown off.
Paypal is supposed to be a convenient way to send money to freinds and family too. I would not dare send money this way - in case the person i send to as a bad account - and they decide to link you. I darent let people log onto ebay or paypal in my house too. It a crazy state of affairs.
likewise, my OH still moans because I veto'ed Paypal and eBay accounts in our household when I started the business
The seller has made it slightly clearer that it's not something that would happen to everyone, but it reminded me that on eBay you don't have a business, you are a guest who is allowed to sell, likewise Paypal is a privilege, and make sure you have a back up plan (which I don't have right now  but will be working on..).0 -
Another seller heading to ebid I suspect. At least they have a load of payment methods.
Paypal should have noted that the seller had a good record and done the decent thing and actually asked him if something had gone wrong. After all, the seller may simply have got a new bank card or changed Banking providers and messed-up the update to their account. Things like this do happen.0 -

I can't imagine ebid being at all suitable for a business seller- more likely they will work on their own website and get sales that way.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. There's actually more to it, the seller posted more information about their personal circumstances. It's not a matter of something happening out of the blue, but it shows that if computer says no, Paypal and eBay will just kill you off with the push of a button, and make sure you don't rise again...
I doubt the seller will move over to ebid, waste of time in my opinion, amazon, etsy etc (depending on the type of items) and own website (+ google adwords and shopping) are the way to go in my opinion. And an alternative payment method to Paypal is also a must!0 -
The only trouble with using other sites is that a large majority use Paypal as a payment gateway so unless he is prepared to set up a new bank account, new business name and use a virtual office service to create a new identity, he will not be able to set-up a new Paypal account, so will be restricted.
The problem is, everyone expects to be able to pay with Paypal as it is inground into the way we work. He would have to offer a large discount to customers to persuade them to use an alternative payment system to Paypal.0
