I guess they got over their racist inhibitions now.

Obama i think is the right choice.

    Depends what you mean.

Last time 87% of black people voted for Obama and 13% for McCain.

44% of white people voted for Obama and 56% for McCain.

Some of the comments on FB/ Twitter etc would imply otherwise - there are still the same old ridiculous arguments being banded around - he is a Muslim, he is not American, and the usual when all else fails, he is the new Hitler. Other comments referred to all his voters being "gay lesbian and hispanic" - I love America, but some of them are beyond ignorant!

Yes I believe that Romney got the White male vote while Obama got the women, black and latino vote.

What I didn't realise until last night was apparently by 2020 the majority minority race in the USA will be Latino. No race will have greater than 50% but the biggest one will be Latino. If the republicans don't find a way of reaching out to the latino base then they won't get back in for a long time.

Interestingly there is alot of talk that the next republican candidate will be Jeb Bush. While the democrat one may be Hilary. That would be an interesting election!

I think the challenge in the US (and the same here) is how the system can look after the "haves" and the "have nots".

There is a danger - which Romney aluded to - is that the "have nots" will only vote for democrat/labour and as the "have nots" outnumber the "haves" what does that mean for the "haves".

We need parties that look after both not either.

    No.

What we need is parties that will move the 'have nots' to 'haves' - or at least a good proportion of them.

One of the best leaders in modern times who attempted to do this was Margaret Thatcher and she is reviled by a large proportion of country!

I think he means that the face of the next president is the same as the face of the current incumbent.

Offered in reply to: "Same !!!!, different face", posted by someone who presumably believes Romney won.

goater78 might have meant that, but as they are usually wrong they can safely be ignored.

The quote "Same !!!!, different face" clearly meant who cares who won, they are both pretty much the same

Yes, of course Thatcher was a friend of the working classes!

    You've excelled yourself this time.

The vast majority of black Americans voting for Obama because he's mixed race.

Different kinds of racism is still racism.

With all due respect you don't really know what you are talking about. Obviously unpopular with the unions (which needed dealing with as they were stagnating the British economy). Margaret Thatcher tried to encourage everyone to increase their own personal wealth (including the working classes). Her policies led to over a million working class families owning their own council house. Share ownership went up and I believe personal wealth also increased for most people.

Her unpopularity rests on controversial issues like the way she treated the miners and the poll tax. However a lot of people (both rich and poor) benefited from her policies.
