I don't have a slow cooker but use an old pressure cooker frequently (is that the same thing?). I think it's a matter of trial and error and your taste as to how much seasoning or portioning your food.

My advice would be to just do as you usually would with any other type of pot.

I love savoury food. For meat I pre-season with loads of garlic, sprinkle of sea salt, coarse black pepper and olive oil and any other herbs for added zing. Then in it goes my old pot with some water and just let it cook down, and add veggies later on. Yummy!

    I'm getting hungry now.

Once used you'll see how dead simple it is and how good the food is and you'll never look back. Promise :)

As for a recipe - pick one out of the Slow Cooker Index that you like and that you feel confident about all the ingredient quantities and just go for it.

If you get stuck... help is just a keystroke away :)

It's called " The Slow Cooker Recipe Book" and its by Catherine Atkinson. (original title eh!)

Stange to be discussing slow cooker recipes on a hot day like today, but having said that I cooked phesant in red wine in mine yesterday. No slaving over a hot stove on a hot day for me.

It's been said before - a slow cooker is an ideal way to cook a meal on a hot day. Innit? :)

The website that is listed here under the Slow Cooker Recipes - recipezaar is excellent. It's an american site so I have to convert into metric and some of the ingred I've never heard of but a lot are really good and I have printed them out. Can't wait to try them while the cooler weather is still here.

But saying that some of the recipes have really weird combinations. Might be an american thing. :D

I have made my Lemon Cheese (or Curd whatever :D ) for years in the microwave. Here is the recipe, so quick and easy and less hassle. It's a winner everytime.

    Juice of 1 large lemon
    2 eggs
2 tab butter (I usually cut up into little cubes)
    1/3 cup sugar

Combine all ingredients in microwave bowl. Cook covered with cling wrap on defrost cycle 6 - 8 mins, stirring occassionally until thick. Pour into glass jar. Referigerate. This makes one jar, so if you want more just double up.
How much is 2 tabs of butter in other money - like ounces or grams? Or is tab short for tablespoon?
