    i also use slow cooker as a basis for soups - church the veg in, add a bit more water and then puree all / half of it at the end - sometimes you need to add more water. i often put mine on overnight too when the elec is cheaper!

    no - just started thinking about it after musing this thread! guess obvious stuff could be stewed fruit - could just be left on.... v handy for me as i work from home but always get distracted and and burn stuff!

    It would have to be a pretty basic pudding ... obviously no good for sponges, pastries, layered puddings/desserts. I would think it would be good for stewed fruits, though I've never tried it. Can't think of any other pudding it might be good for though. On the whole, much more suitable for savoury.

    Plain rice, rissotto and rice pudding cook well in a slow cooker. Keep to the usual quantities of water (hot) and cook on high. It doesn't take long (2 1/2) hours or so.

    Most of the recipe sites for slow cooking are American so you get better search results if you put 'Crock Pot'

  • Thanks everyone for great recipes.
    I'm now going to find my slow cooker, lurking somewhere in the loft.
    I remember in years gone by I used to make jam sponge puddings and sago puddings both of which were very popular, but don't think these would be so popular today!
