Hello, we have been mis sold a holiday by sunsave and don't know where we stand.

Right, 8 lads all in age range of late 20s, early 30s. we rang up sunsave lookin for a holiday to cancun in mexico in the springbreak zone of where all the young lively action is.

Anyway they said that was fine and all sounded good so we booked.

Next day we check the hotel and where it is only to find they have put us in a pure family based hotel with waterpark for kids. It's 10km away from the main part from which we asked for and is very remote and quiet!

Now what and where do we turn to as we all paid £400 deposit. This is definently a mis sold holiday and every lad is fuming!

    Help

    Thanks

can I ask why you didnt check the hotel out before confirming the booking, you had obviouslr 'researched' the area before calling them

I do tend to agree as I would always research and check details myself but the fact is you shouldn't have to.

Even these days not everyone has the internet or the savvy to use it (perhaps the elderly) so it angers me when people put their trust in TAs and are let down through laziness, incompetence or both :(

but that is not the case here

No, it would appear that the OP could have checked and didn't but my point is why should they have to?

You would have thought that the purpose of a travel agent would be to help you find a suitable holiday but it seems increasingly nowadays they just look for a sale and sod whether the holiday actually meets requirements as requested.

Probably apples and oranges but you wouldn't go to a doctor for medical advice and then come home and google your prescription to make sure the doctor had done their job properly, would you?

It does make me very angry because there will be people that have little choice or no experience and have no confidence to do anything but to trust a TA's recommendation.

Anyway, I'll shut up, I'm just ranting now! :rotfl:
  • I have found most hotels "lively" in the spring break.
Full of Canadian and American students partying.
    travelover
  • Thanks for the advice guys.

Just wondering what you're going to do now you've had opinions from other people.

Do you still think the holiday was mis-sold?

why didn't you do the sensible thing and check the hotel before offering to pay a deposit??? as you have found out it's a bit late doing it the other way round
  • you don't need to be told what you did wrong as you know already. As it is springbreak perhaps the TA couldn't find one in the zone for your budget? Think positive- you might find the springbreak hotels are too young for you:rotfl:
Worst scenario - it will cost you 5 dollars each to get to the zone. Also- check the hotel website or email them to see if they have a shuttle running. And you have a waterpark to enjoy:j

  • to be fair- now I've looked at the hotel, its definitely really for families and that should have been pointed out to you before you booked. Get on the phone again and ask to speak to a supervisor. It probably wont work but you could add sunsave to your thread title and point out the thread to them.
Who have they used for your hotel? You need to find out that company's fees for change of hotel. Sunsave will charge you this plus £100 each. it might be worth taking the hit as you would save on taxi fares
PS the complaints section of holidaytruths is worth posting there as someone there will know exactly what you would be able to expect

I am not 100% sure, but I think this question might have already been asked.
