Help, mi ssold holiday

Hello, we have been mis sold a holiday by sunsave and don't know where we stand.
Right, 8 lads all in age range of late 20s, early 30s. we rang up sunsave lookin for a holiday to cancun in mexico in the springbreak zone of where all the young lively action is.
Anyway they said that was fine and all sounded good so we booked.
Next day we check the hotel and where it is only to find they have put us in a pure family based hotel with waterpark for kids. It's 10km away from the main part from which we asked for and is very remote and quiet!
Now what and where do we turn to as we all paid £400 deposit. This is definently a mis sold holiday and every lad is fuming!
Help
Thanks

Stop fuming: go and see them; politely explain that the hotel they chose for you was not suitable; ask them to transfer you to another hotel in the resort at a similar price. They should oblige: apart from anything else, the families in the quiet hotel might well complain if they share it with you lot!0

never trust a TA or a EA or any salesman/woman come to that.
paying a deposit before checking all the details is a bit naive, having said that have you asked for a recording of the phone call that they have with your specific requests, that may be a way to go0 -
Someone has been watching too much Geordie Shore...

Tell us which hotel you have been allocated. The main hotel zone is some 14 Kms with lively areas all along it and very cheap busses and taxies running 24hrs. I've had a lads holiday at a hotel in the downtown area as well as one about half way along the hotel strip. I seem to recall that the main 18-30 hotel was at the far end of hotal zone towards airport. If you are going there at spring break wherever you stay you will have a ball, the whole of Cancun including all hotels along the zone are at full party mode.0

People are only too ready to use the word 'scammed' when it is really their own fault for not checking details before booking.
You have not been scammed.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
814 man, it is called sea adventure.
Everyone check it out then you will know what I mean.
Common sense 8 lads ain't kids or a family!0 -

Common sense works both ways.

I do tend to agree as I would always research and check details myself but the fact is you shouldn't have to.
Even these days not everyone has the internet or the savvy to use it (perhaps the elderly) so it angers me when people put their trust in TAs and are let down through laziness, incompetence or both

If you read the blurb about the hotel you've booked, it says:Whether traveling with kids, friends or with your partner, this incredible, family resort offers exciting activities for children and fun events for adults so that every one can have the time of their lives. The expansive deck is a perfect spot where you can socialize with other guests while sipping cocktails, listening to music and admiring the magnificent backdrop of Cancun's largest marina
Is your main complaint the location?
It seems to be close to where you get the boat to Isla Mujeres so it's not as though you are at the far end of the hotel zone.
Are you maybe trying to get out of the booking by saying the hotel is purely for families?
I agree it's probably not in your ideal location, but I've never heard of 'the springbreak zone' and as you obviously have, didn't you do a bit of research about location before ringing the TA?
I do agree with Incapuppy that you shouldn't need to, but you do have to unless you want to be in the situation that you now find yourselves in.0
