was the pram very expensive? perhaps you'd have paid that much for a pram anyhow? (probably not, but that's the way i'd justify it to myself to stop me from getting upset!).

No. It wasn't expensive. It was on sale at around half price if memory serves. There is no way we could afford to replace it with similar even if there was anything small and light enough.

I'll have to have a talk with DH tonight about what we'll do and whether it's reasonable to expect some kind of compensation for being left in the lurch for a whole month. (Money off the booster seat for our toddler would be fine and dandy!)

Aw, bless ya, Fritha! x I'll be along in a little while to explain the saga. It involved me walking out of the shop in tears with a pulled muscle in my shoulder but it has a happy ending! LOL

Thanks so much for your advice and support on this everyone.

Okay, I got a phonecall from the store saying they'd tried the pram again and there was nothing wrong with it after all and I could come and pick it up. Although I'd been told a replacement was 'on its way' it turned out they couldn't find one.

I tried out the 'fixed' pram in the shop and it seemed okay so I took it home. Went out to my friend's house, with new pram, and couldn't open the darned thing. Then when I did, the wheels wouldn't unlock. During the fight with it, I pulled a muscle in my shoulder. (I'd had physio that morning and been signed off as fit again. Didn't last long did it!) My friend had to go out and pick up her toddler so she took my toddler with her too to give me a chance to phone the shop again. (She locked me in by mistake and I had a huge panic attack but that's by the by!) The shop agreed to take it back and give me £60 but refused to give me any compensation or money off vouchers. I was so disappointed with all the hassle and let down that I ended up crying on my way out of the shop. (I'm blaming my hormones!)

When I got home I did some checking up on the net and found another britax pram for £60 so I ordered it. It would fit in the boot but not leave room for anything else but I thought it would do. As soon as I bought it, I realised they had a zeta for the same price so I cancelled it and ordered the zeta so fingers crossed that all went through okay and hopefully by next week I'll actually have a travel system. However, the pram and the seat are different colours so it will look a bit odd when I use them together. Tch! What a palavar.

So if it arrives okay, and works, I'll post a picture of Jimmy in it to prove it has a happy ending after all!

If I have the energy, I'm going to complain to the store manager and definitely britax for the hassle. I always buy my stuff from them and have sworn by britax car seats so they've definitely let me down this time.

Oh, and a piece of the pram fell off when I was putting it up. LOL
