Is the signature definitely the same name as the person it was addressed too? Could have been signed for by a neighbour, even the postie :/

She is saying its not her or her husbands signature & is now checking with neighbours, the sig is obscure, just a squiggle really...
So does buyer have all the power? Will i need to refund and claim via royal mail or will she?

If a neighbour doesn't have it get them to check the shed, wheelie bin, anywhere where a meat headed postman could have stashed it. All too often the postman will sign for it him/herself, leave it somewhere and expect you to know psychically.

I am guessing you have already confirmed the delivery address was correct?

I remember buying a fairly expensive phone from a seller on eBay. The seller guaranteed next day signed for delivery. It didn't arrive. I contacted the seller and asked them to confirm the address they had posted to. I then pointed out quite clearly that it was not my address, and they were at fault. They did send out another but I will never know if they managed to recover the one that was sent out incorrectly.

Just read your post, oh that's a relief :)

I'm now one of those "meat headed" postman and yes I've left parcels in wheelie bins, sheds etc. I write on an envelope where the parcel is or a 739 card. So far I've had no one complain in fact I even had someone thank me which was a surprise. A lot of customers don't want to traipse down to the DO.

I have problems with "meat headed" customers who have their tv's radios turned up loud don't hear me virtually battering the door down then moan that they now have to collect the parcel.

Why on earth won't you do the job properly. As a former postie, if you're caught doing that, you're heading for the sack. A safe place is only allowed if you have written instructions from the customer. Your customers may like you to do it, but the first one that has a packet go missing from their wheelie bin and it has your signature next to it, say bye bye to your job.

OP Leave with neighbour is live in many places if not all places by now, he should have left a card to state it was with neighbour though. I don't agree with recorded items being left this way, hence I have opted out. Glad you found out what had happened to it though :)

I do my job properly. I've been asked to leave parcels in recycle bins, sheds, under patio tables, wheelie bins etc. I don't sign or leave recorded parcels.

Have you not seen the instructions on parcels from some of the major online and high street stores? It says "Safe place if no answer. No signature needed". Only following customer instructions!!!!

You mean like me last week. Waiting for a parcel - expected it last Monday. Delayed going out - so i could accept it.

Stood at window and saw potsman walking up my path. No parcel in his hand - no knock on door (i heared letterbox go). Oh well, i thought - i'm sure it will come tomorrow.

So i got my coat to go out - where i was greeted by a 'while you were out' card from your 'meat head' colleague.

Swears blind he banged on the door for ages. He's a LIAR!
