Shun knives

You could stop by on a typical council estate and randomly stop a teenager and ask him what knives he would recommend.
He's sure to recommend a nice set. Unfortunately, they may be of the flick variety or Rambo stylee.0 -
Peppered........I gotta agree with pink. There ARE other ways to get yerself noticed on this site.Pink-winged wrote:Peppered,
I'd be really grateful if you would reduce the font in your signature. It would make it much easier to read what you write in your posts.
PinkI haven't been asked to tell you that I'm the Board Drunk for this board. As the night wears on, my posts will become worse, with simple spelling mistakes, inane ramblings, and a blatant disregard for the truth. I have no authority to do anything, so there's no point asking or telling me. If you see me past midnight, please tell me to get my coat and order me a taxi.

The problem is with Peppered's signature is that like most it's just pretentious clap-trap.0

With skin that thin, you should be careful when playing with knives.

I purchased a couple of handmade Murata knives from the japanese knife company in London at the good food show in Birmingham a year or two ago. They offer free annual servicing of your knives

I wouldn't go for the Murata knives if you don't want to lovingly hand wash dry and then oil them immediately after using them. However they feel absolutely lovely and are very comfortable to use.
If you want advice etc about knives the owners of the store are very helpful and will take the time to go through the entire range with you and let you try them all out on as many root vegetables as they can lay their hands on.
I also have a set of Henckel Pro S that I use for more heavy duty chopping which again I find very good quality and can normally get some discounts on by shopping around.
If you like cooking then why not spend some of the money you saved through looking at the rest of the site to treat yourself to something that you will use every day.
If possible however I would agree with the other poster that said try to get to a shop to try the knives as they may be too light or heavy for your needs or the balance of the knife may feel awkward0
