So I'm spending some of my retirement money on a Ferrari, should I buy a
Hyundai Coupe (a poor mans ferrari ) instead?
Do you use supermarket own brands by any chance?
You can't take it with you, you need to decide whether to spend it or to leave it to your descendants/friends/death duties in your will.
Yes, if they're as good as the branded items, why pay for the brand advertising spend.Just for one moment, thought I'd found my way.0 -

Afraid I can't help you find the knives you want any cheaper but I understand why you're looking at them. Spent some money on a good set of knives (different brand) 6 years ago and I'm still using them today. Nothing like using quality knives.
Good Luck

These knifes look pretty good from Best Direct...

Buy one set @ £29.99 and you get another free. They can do all kinds of amazing cutting/slicing/chopping things and stay sharp for ages and that.
I know coz i've sat through 30 minutes of them drumming it into me on their TV presentation. By the end of which you're almost on your knees begging for mercy and screaming you'll have one for God's sake.0 -
As an ex-chef I find the best way to purchase knives is in person. I find that i need to feel the weight and balance and also make sure that there is enough clearance on the handle, so that my knuckles don't keep hitting the wotk top when i'm chopping. funnily enough one of the best sets of knives I bought was a cheap set from a local department store for £9.99. i bought them 8 years ago and they are still as good as new and just require a qucik sharpen now and again. Howw they would stand up to proffesional work I don't know but they've lasted me and I do a lot of cooking. It's horses for courses isn't it? having posh knives does't make you a chef, no mi=ore thatn owning a ferrari makes you a racing driver. Each person has the right to spend their money as they see fit.:D0
