    It feels freezing.

We have had only a woodburner in a downstairs room for two winters, and this summer had extensive house works including a new wood pellet boiler this autumn. It's been fraught with problems, and delays and frustrations. It's been on for over 24 hours now, but now it appears there is a plumbing issue (a valve too tight or something).

I am hardy, tough,a fighter, have coped fine with no heating in years before, but the promise of it being here...not to keep the house hot, but just 'not cold' and it failing night after night, week after week, is starting to make me crack. I think I might cry if tomorrow's attempts fail. We have no hot water apart from a very weak shower on a temporary water supply, and so even keeping clean is a nightmare (when we didn't have heating we had an immersion for a hot bath to warm up and feel properly clean). My skin has chapped from washing in cold water when I haven't got the will to get under the dribble of shower in a cold house.
  • I don't know but it feels a bit nippy here. I need to buy some long warm knee socks.:p

Its freezing, and my backs seizing up. I've got a hot water bottle strapped to it, a long jumper dress, and cardi, plus the heating is on constant at 20 c.

Starting to warm up, might crank up to 30 for a bit.
New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!

OP I think it's an age thing, my neighbour's DD went to school without a coat and her sleeves pulled up to the elbow, as did her friend. Of course in their teens they need to show off their style, not the sensible coats the parents have bought them ;). Meanwhile my thermostat is at 18 degrees, am wearing a roll-neck sweater with a pullover and a chunky cardigan on top, knee-high sox and stretch trousers and still feel the cold. Once dinner is over I'll change into fleecy jimmies, thick towelling robe, get a hot cuppa and pull the fleece throw (and maybe one of the cats) over me.
