I'm not sure what the temperature is, first thing in the morning i'll have the heating on for an hour or so, but during the day when i'm moving around more i'll have a thin jumper and old cardi on top so don't bother with heating. In the evening when i maybe just sitting i'll have the fire in the lounge.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

It's about 14c here despite CH being on max for past 2 hours. This evening it'll be on again for longer until my little boys gro-egg turns yellow.
I hate this house, inefficient boiler, sludge filled radiators & little insulation - I can't wait to have got another deposit together so we can move. It's not healthy having a constantly cold 10month old.0 -
Wow! How does this work? I have an iPhone and I just searched for thermometer apps after seeing your post and sure enough, there are lots. But I don't get how they would work - wouldn't your phone need to have a thermometer built in or something? Intrigued!
....ETA I have just looked at the thermometer apps that come up for me and they only tell you the outside temperature based on the local weather forecast. There aren't any that actually measure temperature. I am in awe of your phone Judi!
I'll be honest, i dont know how it works but it does. I dragged the thermometer from out of the greenhouse to see how accurate it was and sure enough they both gave the same readings once the outside thermometer had aclimatised.
Presently my indoor temperature is 29 degrees and outside temperature is 7 degrees. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
My OH says he would be horrified if he came home to find bubblewrap over the windows! sounds a good idea to me, but what does it look like, and doesnt it keep the best of natural light out? I might persuade him to let me try it upstairs.
Kitchen- just have roller blinds on 2 windows, should I improve on that ?
I got thinsulated trousers for a tenner in aldis, they are great for indoors too. I plan to knit chunky wristwarmers for indoors as hands wrists get cold when reading etc.
I really dont undesrstand how thermostats work best or where to have them. We have a wireless one in the L room, we keep the door closed, but it doesnt seem to control upstairs temp. the L room can feel cold even at 21, its heats up then lowers all the time. Is the therm in the wrong room?0 -
It's 10 C (50 F) in my room at the moment and 9 C (48 F) in my bedroom. I'm wearing a tee shirt with a long sleeve tee shirt over the top plus a scarf. I feel pretty comfortable with that. Those robbing energy companies aren't getting my money! I prefer to spend my money on good food and chocolate. I put the calories into my body, not my room!0

Our boiler has some strange glitch which no one has been able to figure out, so that the only thing I can do with it is switch it on and off manually (and even that wasn't working properly this morning) - using the timer and thermostat to control it doesn't seem to work very successfully. Quite annoying to have to get up in the freezing cold to get it working, but the last heating engineer failed to fix it and I don't feel like throwing good money after bad at the moment.
The thermostat was showing the current temperature at 9 degrees this morning, which I can't say I enjoyed much.I rarely have it on long enough to get much above 14 degrees anyway, and that's mainly to dry washing. Fleece blankets and hot water bottles are wonderful things though. Otherwise I just try to keep moving around as much as possible!:D

wow - 29 degrees! I'd be a mess - sweating buckets and unable to do anything other than lay on the sofa with a wet flannel on my head grumbling about how uncomfortably hot it is (I'm no good on holiday in the sun!):AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
