Thank you for your words of support, and the lovely poem.
It's a tough struggle at the moment, but i think i'm going to get through this thanks to the help and support from some wonderful MSE users.
Thank you.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::j 65K DEBT FREE SINCE 19/06/07 !!! :j:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Hi Tony,
I also had the frustrating calls to the crisis loan line, gave up after day 5 of the engaged tone. The bank had swallowed my first benefit payment and the dog and me had been living off the last bits of rice in the cupboard. However, I was pointed to this link in the benefits section of the boards:
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Bfsl1/Be...rt/DG_10018856
It is an application form for a crisis loan, you just have to print it off, fill it in and send it. If you don't have a printer you could print it off at the library. Hmmm.... they didn't tell me (or you by the sounds of it) that we could do that at the jobcentre.
I applaud those who have helped you as it takes a very desperate situation to force someone to ask for this kind of help from anyone, strangers or not. With all you have been through your confidence must have taken a huge knock and to ask for help in this way comes from desperation, well done to those who recognised the situation and acted quickly and positively. :T
You have got into a position where you are back in control and feeling more positive, keep going, you are also helping others who read your thread and see your achievements. Just being able to read about other people’s situations and progress, and being able to ask for advice from people who have been in/are in that position themselves is more valuable than a box of gold. These sites provide a sense of solidarity and a great laugh when you really need one. Selling your computer should never be suggested as an option to someone in your position, as has been demonstrated it is a lifeline.
I look forward to reading about your debt-free moment, you are almost there and deserve a good holiday out of this - modest, obviously before anyone tells me off for encouraging spending.:rotfl:0 -
Hi oojakapipi, and thanks very much for your post !
It was brilliant that you found a downloadable version of the Crisis Loan claim form, however, it seems to have moved from the page link you provided.
Fortunately, i did a search and found the page here: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/DoItOnline/DG_4017683
(For anyone else who wants a direct link to the downloadable PDF form, just click here: http://www.dwp.gov.uk/advisers/claimforms/sf401_print.pdf (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your PC)
Thanks again for your help oojakapipi. I think it's disgusting that the Crisis Loan claim line doesnt have some kind of queueing system in place (like we encounter 99% of the time elsewhere). It just goes to show that they will do anything they can to stop giving out money by not allowing people to get through on the phone. It's absolutely obscene in this day and age that people could be literally starving to death (i hadn't eaten for nearly 4 days before kind hearted people stepped forward and loaned me some money) and yet not be able to get through on this claim line.
Thanks again for your post !:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::j 65K DEBT FREE SINCE 19/06/07 !!! :j:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

That's really odd because it was 'live' last week when I used it. If I was really cynical I would say that they realised that it had been put on the MSE boards and moved it!
The lack of a queueing system on the Crisis Loan line is the most frustrating thing, every other government department has a queueing system. I got really worried that the line was so busy because the whole country had gone into financial crisis! On day 3 of the engaged tone I phoned my local jobcentre to find out if I could go in and apply, I was told that the only thing I could do was keep trying the line.
Thank God for MSE members!0 -
Hello everyone !
I'm back at last. 65k debt free, 22k in the bank, and getting settled in my new home with stunning views over the rolling Welsh hills !
I completed the sale of my other house on June 19th and the move went without a hitch. Completion actually came through at 10.30 in the morning !
Anyway, i've spent the past 3 weeks juggling between unpacking all my stuff, little shopping trips to spoil myself with my new found wealth, and also organising all my debts and paying them off. It's practically all sorted now.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone on here who offered my help and advice, loaned me money for food and bills during my desperate time, and generally stuck by me and believed and trusted in me ! I will be contacting those individuals by PM to personally thank them and repay them them the money i owe them as promised.
Thanks again for everyone's help, this site and its members are truly fantastic, and i know for a fact i would have gone under if i hadn't found it. Suffice to say i probably wouldnt even be alive to post this now, things were that bad.
I love you all ! Thank you.
P.S. - I'm now in the process of reclaiming my bank charges, and have just posted off the first letters. I estimate i'm owed over £3,000 accross all my accountsKeep your fingers crossed for me please !
