Lynz, you are a lovely person :A
I wish I could help you out tony, I have nothing though. I'm in a similar position to you as well, I can understand how you are feeling.....as lynz said, please hang in there. This will probably be the lowest point you will have, it WILL get better.
Try to think of the positives, very soon, you will have sold your house, you will be debt free!!! Just keep that in your mind, keep reminding yourself of that.
In the short term, I suggested the social fund loan, have you enquired about that at all?
Keep talking xx0 -
I really feel for you - you're so close now to the end!
Have you tried https://www.zopa.com? It's a social lending fund. Perhaps if you include the link to this thread, people will be able to read your story.Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0 -
Hello Tony,
Sounds like you've got yourself in a right pickle. It also sounds like you're starting to panic. Its a common reaction. In the US they call it catastrophising (an interesting term) and unfortuantely it happens a lot with money issues. But don't please, it's not as bad as it seems.
Let's look at this for a second (and forgive me if I get the numbers wrong, Im going on whats there above)
1. You have £100,000 house that you're selling
2. You have £60,000 debts
That means you're £40,000 up. Not a bad scenario - certainly not a catastrophe.
Yet you're suffering a short term cash flow issue. You don't have enough money to live on. That's not fun and I can understand why you feel its desperate. It isn't desperate though; even if the numbers are worse than I've written above, it isn't. And you need to try and realise that.
So what do you do? First you stop panicking and get practical. The cash converters idea is not a fun one, but it may quickly provide you cash to work with.
Yet more importantly I think you need to talk to someone about your money issues and you need to organise that as soon as possible.
I would suggest National Debtline 0808 808 4000, Consumer Credit Counselling Service 0800 138 1111 or the Citizens Advice. They should be able to work through your situation and get you some help. If you're struggling to get an appointment quickly enough - then please send MSE Wendy a PM with your phone number and she will try to arrange someone to get in touch with you.
You may also feel that you want to chat with someone who can help the http://www.samaritans.org.uk/ are a great organisation and they won't know who you are don't worry.
While I may've got some of the facts wrong; what i do know is you're in a short term hole, it's not a long term problem and you need to know and understand it will get better.
We're all looking to support you. People here do care. I have seen many people on these boards going through a very dark time, and then the joy of seeing things get much better. I'm looking forward to that time with you.

Thank you for your support everyone. Just to let you all know, i have not done anything stupid yet..... thanks to the support of 2 very beautiful kind hearted people who have PM'ed and offered me help even though i am a stranger to them. They have given me hope and restored my faith in woman/mankind and i cant wait to repay them for their trust in me.
@ Melissa177
Thanks for the Zopa link. I have registered and made an application, although i won't be holding my breath due to my current financial status. Thanks for your suggestion anyway.
@ MSE Martin
I have been registered with the CCCS for a number of weeks and in the process of setting up a debt management plan.
As for the Citizens Advice, i visited them about 2 months ago, and they were a waste of time to be honest. All they did was arrange an interview for me with a legal aid solicitor, who said i have no option but to sell my house, and showed me the door 5 minutes after i walked in.
Thank you for your other suggestions too.
@ needawayout
Thank you for your words. I hope your situation improves too, and if i get through this with the help of others, i will do my best to help you out myself. Thank you.
@ everyone else

Hi Tony
It's a tough dilemma you're in - I would still suggest giving your CCCS caseworker another call to talkt through the cash flow issue. It is also worth considering trying to get a 'crisis loan' from social services.
We're all thinking of you

You know, if anyone questions the need for the MSE website, then point them at this message thread. Well done Lynz, Martin and the other contributors for such caring messages and sound advice.
Tony, it's only money, it's not worth your life. In a very short time you'll have your house sold and you'll be debt free. Concentrate on that while you struggle through these hard times. Good luck mate!Baddass Mofo0 -
Tony----please hang on in there. You do have friends. They are here!0

If thoughts alone could make everything right for you, you know that people here would be ensuring this nightmare was over for you. You've got new friends here & we're thinking of you.
Hopefully you're not so in despair as yesterday. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
