Help needed Selling up and then renting

Hi LP,
I guess my comment was a bit harsh. I guess if I was starving I would sell my computer. Anyway I apologise to Tony any comment that might have bothered him.
I am sure you would agree with me LP that kind hearted people should never send money etc to strangers in responce to unsolicited e-mails / posts on the internet etc as there are so many scams out there.
Imagine if a kind hearted MSE had sent £800 that they could ill afford as requested by Tony and it turned out to be a scam.
Though I have no doubt Tony's situation is 100% genuine.
If you do lose your internet connection Tony you can usually get free access at the library.
Keep posting Tony, look after yourself, I wish you well at a difficult time for you and if you feel down please phone the Samaritans.
There is always a way forward.

Tony, please try to keep that positive feeling you had earlier, hold onto it and don't let anyone or anything take it away. We are all here to help you in whatever way we can. I don't think best meant to knock you, I think she was just offering a general warning to people. Not that I personally see what's wrong with sending someone a bit of food. If you PM me your address I would be happy to help you out.:A

Best,
I agree, I feel your comments are a bit harsh and upsetting.
However, I agree, and Im sure Tony would understand that yes, no one wants MSE to turn into a "honeypot" for scammers.I am sure you would agree with me LP that kind hearted people should never send money etc to strangers in responce to unsolicited e-mails / posts on the internet etc as there are so many scams out there.
Actually I dont agree. What I think is anyone who sends money has to be prepared to lose it. if they dont hopefully they should learn a good lesson- dont give what you cant afford to lose. And I also believe people should take responsbility for thier own decisions and not be coddled into what they should and shouldnt do.
All the best best, I know you are only thinking of others, but the way you came accross was jhust a bit harsh, thats all.
Anyway, Im sure Tony doesnt need to see us arguiing the toss over this- its not helpful - so lets leave it there shall we

Best,
To be honest, i found your comments to be harsh, blunt, and hurtful to me in my current position.
I have been employed for the past 20 years and have always paid my way and worked hard for everything i own. My life took a turn for the worse a few years ago when i lost my mother, followed soon after by my father, then an anonymous "tip off" to the police that i had child !!!!!! on my PC by some evil sod who thought it would be a joke (understandably the police have to follow up such reports, but knowing full well i was innocent and having to endure 6 weeks of sheer hell while they investigated me and took away my PC for analysis gave me a nervous breakdown). And to cap it all, the following year i caught my partner sleeping with some guy she worked with at a Boxing Night party.
However, i have got myself deeply in debt lately after having to 'buy' my partner out of my house, taking a £150 a week pay cut to keep my job when we lost some major contracts, and ending up on the sick for 6 months after another nervous breakdown. I am now absolutely pennyless and desperate, and thats why i have to sell my home that i've worked hard on for the past 14 years.
I realise it was cheeky of me to ask people to lend me £800 for a few weeks, (as i said when i asked) but that was out of sheer desperation. Did you seriously think i was expecting some person on £57 income support to give me that kind of money ? I gave it a shot because you never know if there's going to be a millionaire reading these forums that would be able to afford to lend that kind of money, or woulnt even miss it if they never got it back. It was worth a try. You also seemed to miss the point that i was willing to pay them back an extra £200 in easy interest ? Or was it that that made the alarms bell ring and make you suspect a scam ? I understand perfectly what you are saying about people asking for money on the internet, and i would advise against anyone dishing out money without seriously thinking it through, and the possible outcomes.
But just so you know, no-one has offered me that kind of money. 2 or 3 very kind kind people have sent me small ammounts of cash that have allowed me to buy food for a few days, and i appreciate their generousity with all my heart. I have also got their addresses and have promised to pay them back, and they will be. I respect that these people have put a lot of trust in me and i respect them for that. I aint going to riip anyone off, because i have already admitted i stand to make £30,000 profit after the contracts are exchanged, so why would i want to do people out of the odd ten or twenty pound note ? The people who have lent me money and put food in my stomach will be getting back more than what they have just loaned me, i assure you. Don't you think i feel bad enough about scrounging money from total strangers without you having a go at me too ? Especially after i have always had everything i ever wanted in life, and now i'm at the complete opposite end of the scale. No hard feelings, i can understand your comments, but the bluntness of them annoyed me considering you don't know my full circumstances and what i'm going through. It's hell being alone in life and not having one single friend or family to turn to for help. I hope you understand that.
You also suggested that i should sell my computer to buy food, like you said you would do yourself. Selling anything takes days, even if you are lucky enough to find a buyer. Those days feel like weeks when you have no food in your stomach. However, yesterday i did list a few expensive items on Ebay to try and get some money, as much as i didnt want to part with them. They are already attracting quite a few watchers and one or two bids, so hopefully i will get some money i need towards putting food in my stomach and paying my bills over the next few weeks, and also money for other costs that come with selling a house. I'm just very grateful to the people who have sent me small ammounts of money for food the past few days to keep me going. I will never forget their generosity, and i say it once again.... they will get every penny back.
Anyway, i just wanted to post more background information about myself to put you in the picture. No hard feelings, but please think about how bluntly you word your replies in future, as they could offend people who feel like their world is crashing down around them.

Toto, thanks for your very kind offer too, but thanks already to 2 or 3 wonderful people on here, i have been able to buy enough food to last me a week until my items (hopefully) sell on Ebay. I should then have enough money for my moving costs and other related outgoings.
Thanks again.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::j 65K DEBT FREE SINCE 19/06/07 !!! :j:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Tony,
Your thread has moved me to tears.
You have been dealt a harsh blow lately, but I hope with the support and advice of all the wonderful people on here things will soon be on the up for you.
How I wish I had £800 to offer you - unfortunately I haven't.
I would however like to send you a little gift - a small amount of Tescos gift vouchers that I have been saving. It isn't much, but they may help to put food in your belly for a few days! (if you have a Tescos nearby of course)?! Please pm me your address if they would be of help to you and I will pop them straight in the post.
Tony, I hope your faith in life has been restored - chin up hun, we are all behind you.

Hi Mad Max,
Thank you for your kind offer. Even though i've decided not to accept any more cash from people, because i feel bad about it now, your offer of Tescos vouchers sounds very tempting if you're absolutely sure you can spare them ?
I will chat to you via PM. Thanks:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::j 65K DEBT FREE SINCE 19/06/07 !!! :j:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
I've just logged on & seen the earlier posts made by bestthingsinlifearefree was somewhat shocked and upset at the harshness.
As far as helping out a stanger goes, sometimes in life you just have to take a chance & reach out to try to help. Yes there is a risk you'll be scammed, but if all you are risking is what some people will blow on a night out or a hairdo then the chance is worth taking in my humble opinion.
When people have reached the edge & can see no way out of their dreadful predicament, just a hand helded out in simple human kindness can hopefully make them feel that maybe there is hope & people in the world who care after all.
Anybody who has been in such desperate need will know the church is not interested, not even to help out with such a fundamental basic like food. It doesn't really practice true christianity alas. Jesus may have fed the people but the church certainly doesn't. The one exception to this is the Salvation Army, who do wonderful work for the less fortunate. Yes there are food kitchens & such, but unless you live close to a busy city centre, there may not be this option to at least get a little something to eat. Anybody who may have to travel to find such a charitable organisation will need money for fares, so is no real solution as money is what they don't have.
I strongly believe that our Tony is going to do us all proud & I know there are a good few of us really rooting for him here. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Hi Tony :hello:
How are things?0 -
Tony i have just read all your thread and wanted to convey how sorry i am that you are going through this awful time. I am glad things are now looking up for you and i hope that perhaps the kind people on this site have helped you to see that the world is not the black tunnel it can seem when you are in debt. Debt may be a bad thing but through it hundreds of good, kind people come together on this site and make peoples lifes better and easier everyday.
This below conveys my feelings for all the help and support that goes on through this site ;
My Friend
When the world is at your shoulder and it just keeps wanting more,
When their knocking on the windows and knocking at the door,
When you have done all you can and cannot do no more,
Just remember who you’re fighting with and who you’re fighting for.
Don’t give up just yet, there is so much more to do,
When others have no strength, they will find the strength in you,
Keep on fighting harder, Keep on fighting through,
We all have to keep on going; I can do it so can you.
You’re stronger than you think you are, you can win this fight,
But you must try harder, and try with all your mite,
Nothings ever easy, the long and winding road,
But with me beside you, I will help to bear your load.
So when you think you’re all alone, fighting on your own,
When you think theres no one listening, to your weak and weary tone,
Remember I am beside you, listening all the way,
Fighting for your corner, Stronger Day by Day
You will never be alone, all the time I hold your hand
Following these footprints you make upon the sand.
This I make my promise, to help to see you through,
Because you’ve had the strength for me my friend, I now have strength for you.0
