SOA for the OR

From the OR's guidelines I quoted earlier. I should have added:

Some of these you should perhaps include (but expect to be denied) as individual OR's may be a little lenient. However, in particular 'Social and entertainment expenses' should not be included as the OR would be justified in thinking that you are trying to take the proverbial p**s. Getting on the wrong side of the OR would be a very bad idea.

    Just my opinion...

    Regards
And just in case someone thinks it would make a useful heading, the phrase 'Social and entertainment expenses' shouldn't be used either. :D I read of someone who included lottery & cigarettes on his. Not surprisingly, the OR wasn't too amused. I've read it's much better to hide those expenses in the amount you allow for something else, then try to negotiate with the OR on an amount if it looks like you won't get as much as you hoped for. :)

Yes!! A man on debthelpuk had put £100 per month for cigarettes.... Needless to say he had an IPA-which he was challenging and going to court:confused:

Neko, if you do spend £80 on your hair, because it is afro and you need the products etc can you not realistically put a bit more than £8? Also, my best friend is black and she needs all kinds of potions for her skin, she has the most beautiful skin but if she doesn't slap all this goop over it, she gets really dry and sore. Now, I have never had to do a SOA for an OR so I might be talking right out of my a@@ but surely these things are as much needed as someone elses glasses? Well, if I were an OR I would allow for them anyway.

Black or not, show me where you can get your hair done for £10 pcm as a woman??? I think I'll have to hide the amount elsewhere...

    O.K. - revised SOA

Let me know if any of this looks massively inflated!

    Rent including council tax/gas/electricity: 600
    Housekeeping: 250
Travel (Oyster zones 1-3) plus travel to visit family: 116
    Clothing: 40
Insurance (contents and personal possesions): 42.06
    Hair: 10
    Dentist: 20
    Prescritions: 15
    Eyecare: 5
    Holiday: 40
    Home repairs/incidentals: 50
    Drycleaning: 10

    Total 1223
    Remaining: 99

    Much better, huh?

Well this is exactly my point, why should you need to hide the cost, the cost is what it is. I understand why you feel you have to, but it's wrong in my opinion.

And yes I think the SOA is better, have you allowed enough for him to knock you down a bit without it having an impact on what you actually need?

Yes, hope so. Maybe I should add a couple of pounds here and there.

I know you mentioned earlier that the TV licence was included in your rent. Does the OR know this? Could you not claim for it seperately?
